another 5/5 novel. I read this after the yandere came during the night and it's absolutely perfect for my mood after that 🥰

I'm a sucker where both characters were equally devoted and deeply loves each other and this novel serves you that. The female lead love toward the male lead is one in a thousands year kind of love (also xie Yun) it was very heart wrenching and heartwarming at the same time cos the ML heart is very hard to crack open after the betrayal he went thru... more>> in the past so it took quite awhile (around 50 chap or so) for the FL to fully get his heart and trust but it was so worth the wait cos once the ML truly accept his feelings for her he fell deeper and deeper each day 🤧

Also to ppl in the comments who's calling the ML tr*sh for being too cold and heartless to FL lol are we even reading the same novel? If the ML is someone who's swayed by a simple act of kindest his courtyard would be full of concubine and one of them would be that Meng Chen b*tch.

The ML has always been partial towards the FL from the beginning just the fact that he didn't avoid her intimate gesture says a lot. It just it took awhile for him to fully believe someone again which is understandable cos some of the FL action is questionable but he never really hurt the FL feelings cos even the FL acknowledge how much he indulge her from the beginning.

Last but not least go read this novel if you like where the mains is so devoted to each other and where the ML Is a certified doting husband. There's no angst only beautiful love story where the FL is willing to sacrifice everything for the man she loves and vise versa <<less

Omg I loved this so much! Listen, don’t give up early because the ML doesn’t reciprocate at first. Once he falls for the FL, he falls forever. A beautiful couple, exciting fight for the throne, steamy scenes... everything I could want in a cnovel!

Honestly I can't stop reading the book once I start, in half mark I just want to slowly savor every part left and quite satisfied at the end of the book.

I agree with the review that said this novel was all the good part of several novels in this genre, but still it is not a perfect one, there is several part that feel not necessary needed or should not gone that way.

Such as the villain Meng girl that should've at least know what she did was wrong but till the end she was a spoiled braindead that claims she did the right thing, very familiar traits.. Yep the Bai concubine. The author tried to justify her action for the failed and failed again assassination just like the way the author tried reasoning of Meng girl's act.. It felt like they tried to make the ML and MC smart by surrounding them with a bunch of idi*t, even the villain emperor. I kinda felt sorry when the Meng girl didn't die and instead keep on living just for additional torture.. She was raised better than ML and MC son, I would love to read a book where ML and MC son turn into villain.. Jk

It's a good read for me, but for reader looking forward to the romance and skim over the political part you may missed several details that contain important part to the whole storyline (this is what I perceived from reading the one star review) give it a go when you willing to read to whole thing. It's easy to read even the political part thanks to the translator doing a very good work. <<less

At first I liked the MC because she was refreshing: She is the matriarch of the household and fell in love with the ML first and helped him a lot etc. But she forces herself onto the ML often which felt uncomfortable at times.

Again, her helping him could literally get her whole family's 10 generations executed so this reason just irked me.

This was a lot of fun. While you can tell from the summary that the female MC is a very strong person, it doesn’t show how clever and determined she is. MVP.

What really caught my attention was the MC’s status. She’s the *Head* of her clan. AND her clan is one of the main powerhouses in the court. I’ve never actually read about an MC who’s openly powerful. The fact that she’s open about her pursuit of the ML makes it even more interesting.

There are a couple of reviews saying... more>> the MC ‘harassed’ the ML. Which is... unfair? Because the ML, a general and martial artist, just lets the MC kiss him. With tongue. Multiple times. So yeah😅 I think the reviews calling it harassment missed a very glaring point. ML could’ve stopped the MCs advances many times in many ways but chooses not to. ~~cuz he likes her~~

Second thing is the main villain. He’s legit scary. The confrontations between him and the MC are nerve wracking.

There are some squick things here and there, but honestly not a lot. Plot is easy to understand and has a good amount of tension. Characters aren’t perfect, they make mistakes in a way that makes sense for them to behave like that. Overall a good read. <<less

I enjoyed reading the book. I liked the main couple and one couldn't help but find the side couples extremely sweet.

I liked the FL and her character. I like that she has done all her mental preparations and knows her journey to ML's heart will be a long and arduous one. She has the patience and she trusts him. As long as she has these two, as the author put it, 'she has the rest of her life to make him love her'. She doesn't waver in face of disappointment.... more>> She doesn't try to win him over with her sacrifices (as in she never reproached him she sacrificed so much for him, being well aware that was her choice and she has to carry that responsibility).

I like that FL didn't completely mellow out once the ML did fall in love with her. She still had her 'spunk'. The couple were quite interesting taking turns to act out whatever plays they had in mind. I like her as she was always rational. She was able to think about why the ML did a certain thing without having her judgment clouded by jealousy or such. She genuinely trusts the ML and wants to help him to achieve his goal.

Tbh, her way of completely giving everything to the ML is a bit uncomfortable to me, as there's no such thing as complete, absolute trust as far as I'm concerned. So I find it admirable if two people can have such trust in each other.

I like that the ML was able to take a step back and analyse his own feelings. It was sad it had to happen when the FL was in danger, but it's a big thing for him to put such massive burden (his revenge and hate for n years) to the side and analyse his feelings. Then not let those burdens affect his feelings. It's a big thing for someone to keep a distinction between the two.

The only dissatisfaction I have with the book is where Meng Chen was able to stir so many things and accomplish so many deeds that don't really make sense. It feels like the author just needed a person she could make into a villain to offset the difference between the person and the FL. Even though I'm not entirely fond of these concepts of comparison, as if one person is good only when compared to another, I don't mind it as much if the character is at least written properly with no plot holes. But this villainess was able to move about under the nose of two people who are quite controlling of their environment and the people next to them, thus making it into a plot hole as far as I'm concerned.

All in all, the book is bitter-sweet. A bit bitter and sour at the beginning, turning into a sweet delight towards the end. <<less

It is fine, but I lost interest near the end. Fathers that are too jealous of their sons annoy me.

The FL lead is smart which is nice, but too often she didn’t throughly get rid of her enemies and predictably it later comes back to bite her in the ass.

The sub plot of the doctor was also quite maddening. Looking at him now, I can’t imagine he was good enough a person in the past to deserve such devotion.

Truely one of the best reads for me. The ML and MC are smart power couple but not op. They are not perfect and do make mistakes but they work hard to rectify it.

The MC is so devoted to her beloved. It's truely heart touching. Her unconditional love touches ML too and his stone cold heart finally melts. At the beginning he is a bit cold towards her but you really can't blame him

I know some people be hating on ML for not falling for FL immediately but that's understandable since he has been betrayed by women before. He loves and dotes on her immensely afterwards. And their s*x life is spicyyyyy, I like their dirty talk and teasing so much

Fav parts: FL is actually f*cking smart. Same w ML. And they are not Op. There are a couple of areas where they didn't predict in advance or were careless. I was biting my nails the whole time.

Although the title of this novel was apt, it failed to give The Noble Woman's Guide on How to Tease One's Husband proper justice since this was more than that. I was on a reading rut for months until I chanced upon this story. This made me go through so much emotion that I am simply filled with sentiments to the point where I don't even know where to begin and am unsure if I have the ability to cut this review short.

Maybe it's better off to mention some trigger... more>> warnings like violence, death, and explicit s*xual content depicted in the novel. Story-wise, it was gripping, humorous, saccharine, and properly executed. It had depths that were almost always answered immediately and the ending wasn't abrupt. The translator did amazing work in showing the author's talent in storytelling that I am only simply amazed and hollowed out now that I finally have finished it. The writing was so effective that I found myself laughing at the scenes or along with the characters, getting riled up due to the misgivings and crying a bucket of tears, only to realize the waterworks were for nothing, and yet the emotions were so genuine that I didn't regret anything.

Regarding the characters, to me, they felt alive. The main characters, Ye Huaiyang and Chu Jinglan, weren't perfect. They were flawed like normal people do.

The male lead, Chu Jinglan, displayed many amazing abilities and was molded into a strong, impenetrable iceberg. A lot might think that he was, for lack of better words, a jerk but all the fences he built came with good reasons. Taking into consideration all the things he endured, his extreme vigilance, deceptiveness, and quality of being ruthless were his means of surviving and ultimately grasping his end goal. In spite of the fact that these were no excuses, no one's deemed fit to say they're invalid. Anyway, it was absolutely heartwarming to see him thaw.

Past 50 chapters, another side of Chu Jinglan was showcased; a side, in my opinion, made him one of the best male leads I've ever read about.

The female lead, Ye Huaiyang, on the other hand, was quick-witted, stubborn, and willful. She knew what she wanted and knew how she would get them. She's strong and flexible; she can be what the situation demands her to be in order to survive and thrive. She loved irrevocably and unconditionally. She's not a saint; I love her for it. Truthfully, I have never rooted for a heroine as much as I have rooted for her.

Yet overall great, I still encountered some issues. Setting aide Ye Huaiyang's parents' consistent absence after all that; my squabble lay with

some of Ye Huaiyang's advances towards Chu Jinglan, and how careless they handled Meng Chen. Even though the latter was a surprise attack to the couple as they genuinely held belief that she wouldn't be so s*upid as to betray their cause, (lmao, but she was indeed s*upid and selfish to do that) they were able to grin and bear through it all.

I truly enjoyed this story. It was such an adventure that I could not not recommend this to anyone who loves, a possibly idealized, romance set in ancient China. With this quotation, I will be closing this longwinded review to a close: "You deserve the love, you keep trying to give."

I loved this novel so much, , give it a read and keep one thing in mind while reading that CJ is unable to trust FL because of the fact that his mother and father have been schemed to death. He has only returned to take revenge and offcourse would have trust issues with FL when she kept on approaching him.

The FL started off so good but then she just kinda fell off like her schemes would have made sense if she was just one off the daughters but she's the matriarch of the family and these are the stunts she pulls?? Your not only reducing your family's public standing but also their political power single handedly endangering your entire family!!!!!

Plus there were other ways she could have taken down the consort WITHOUT implicating herself and her family. Her getting married to him wasn't necessary, SHE LITERALLY RUINED ALL HER PROGRESS WITH HIM, AND HER REPUTATION FOR NOTHING. SHE'S SO SELFISH AND SELF-CENTERED THIS IS BASICALLY A REVERSE YANDERE which normally I don't mind that, but the author keeps trying to portray it as oh she's just forward because she's loved him for years but if she truly loved him she won't force him into an unwanted marrage. Plus the blatant disregard she has for everyone else is actually saddening cause her brothers live her so much yet she treats them like idiots and uses them to push her agenda

The plotting, the scheming, the killing..., everything is really good and interesting. I especially appreciate the FL. Normally, FLs rarely go out of their way to court MLs. It's somehow seen as a weakness or a lack of dignity. However, this FL was an example of a strong beauty who wasn't afraid to fight for the man she wanted. She was occasionally sad when things didn't go her way but never for long. She knew that nothing worth having ever comes easy so she never gave up on chasing the... more>> ML.

As for the ML, it was interesting to see him fall. It took awhile for him to like and trust the FL but the wait was worthwhile. When he fell, he fell with everything he had and was willing to do anything for her. I really liked him and the FL.

Most importantly, this story isn't an abuse novel. There aren't horrible misunderstandings and over the top angst that leaves you feeling hollow. Everything is in perfect moderation.

That said, this book is worth reading. <<less

I don't even know how this got a lot of 5 stars. It's super boring to the point I have to skipped tons of chapters, and then decided to just read the last 10 chapters. Disappointed asf. Jeez Louis comment is accurate asf so just read this when you really wanna read something boring as well as wanna kill some braincells too

I love the MC, she is self-assured, doesn’t underestimate herself or overestimate her capabilities and is fully expressive of her care and love for the ML. Refreshing to have no pretence and a FL acting like admitting you love someone is a weakness. ML also is established well as to why he’s the way he is and it’s nice to see him slowly trust the FL.

I'm a sucker for stories that have a character that's so devoted and shameless to some extent. Yes, the MC of this story is very cute that you can't help but cheer her on during her conquest. Some people don't like it when the MC is too focused on love and on one person from beginning to end. If so, this probably would not be for you.

Thanks for the hardwork, translator-nim! I really appreciate it.

The story is simple yet will leave you off edge as the main villain is crazily scary! I love the FL and I understand where she's coming from, doing everything for the person she loves. Her personality is somewhat selfless and selfish, as she has no qualms doing everything in her power to support, avenge and love ML to the point of hurting her family/people around her, intentionally and unintentionally. She's strong, cunning, feisty and just simply a woman in love.

ML is... more>> understandable as well, due to his trauma from previous relationship and trusting wrong people made him into a cold person who doesn't trust easily and was adamant to fulfill his mission. He was indifferent, cold and somewhat annoying at first, but when he found out all the things that the FL has done for him, he learned to trust, appreciate and love her.

I enjoyed the novel and looking forward to the next novel.

I just have a bit of frustration regarding with a side character, I feel like she deserve to suffer more. Lol! Anyway, hope you read this as well. <<less

She is so hell-bent towards the ML and her falling in love is such a weird thing (at least for me). The only time they met is when he saved her and then he does not interact with her again. From that interaction, she already decided that she is in love with the guy and to involve herself in politics for him even involving her family (bec yes she schemed to be the matriarch of the Ye Family to help him). Not to mention she's only 10 at the time. I dunno its pretty weird. I understand why ML fell in love with her but hers is so abrupt and intense lol

FL is strong and also has many flaws. She doesnt have golden finger. She only relies on her brain to scheme.

This is a Protagonist feel in love first so people who projects the FLs feeling since this is mostly her POV. I hope you also understand about the FL brother and the MLs perspectives.

This can be regarded a Female yandere in early chapters since ML haven't loved FL. Sooo...... Be ready. 😂
