The story is very different than usual romance novels. The FL lead has a very sad life and some things that happen to her make you cry. The ML is an odd one, but you tart understanding him a bit. There is r*pe, which is the reason why there is low rating for the novel but the story develops slowly. The translator does a good job!

My only regret is not picking up this series the first time I saw it because of the bad reviews. I hate harem so I DONT read anything with a harem tag. I know what to expect when I read something with the r*pe tag. If I later regret reading this, it wont be because of that

This is unreadable I’ve tried a few different chapters and none of these characters have any redeeming qualities. If this is what Chinese “aristocracy “ is supposed to be portrayed then all I see is a case if schizophrenia. Very disappointing and I won’t continue to read this

Actually, the novel is great. If you would just give it a chance, it will leave you somehow nostalgic. There are so many twist and turns that would give a rollercoaster of emotions. At beginning of the story it's really-really bad, the ML is so unreasonable. If I have a gun in my hand, I would shoot him immediately, makes me so mad.

Then I saw the drama from this novel so I try to read it more, the ML is beginning to change better and treasure the FL more. It's kinda fun to watch their interaction. Rather read the raw, cause some of the dialog not fully translated by the new translator.

A lot of people hate this novel, but let me play devil's advocate here.

The first time I tried this novel, I could not get past 10 chapters because I hated the ML so much, so I totally understand why someone would drop this. I tried this novel again half a year later and read 700+ chapters because I was so engrossed.

Reasons NOT

to drop the novel for (playing devil's advocate) :

• • The ML is a piece of sh**: yes, I hated the ML, especially at the beginning. BUT, consider the fact that it is later revealed he has a mental illness/personality disorder to explain his condition. The ML was raised in a family where the parents didn't give a sh*t about how moral their son was, only how talented at developing technology he was. They even go as far as to encourage the ML's mental disorder because they think it will make him more suitable to inherit their family legacy. The ML's older brother was literally driven to the point where he

  • How normal could the ML be to have grown up in this household? As you read on, the ML does get better, and it's heartbreaking how far he goes and what he needs to go through to get therapy.

• • The FL is too s*upid: The FL also got on my nerves at times because there was so much more she could have done to get away from the ML and everyone bullying her. HOWEVER, consider that she also has some kind of personality disorder. She was literally abandoned by just about everyone she loves and has no one to rely on. This is traumatizing! It would make sense for her to start being overly reliant on the ML.

• • The characters just annoy the cr*p out of me: I think there needs to be separation between whether a novel is good and whether you
    like the characters or not. A novel can be good and engaging without like-able characters and vice versa. If there is a train wreck, it is horrible to watch and yet I will still watch it because I cannot look away and want to know what will happen. I think one of the worst things an author can do is not to write hateful characters, but write characters that no one cares about, that is, writing characters the reader is just indifferent to. The fact that I experience such intense emotions (even of annoyance) toward certain characters just shows how talented the author is to have been able to convey these emotions through paper.

Din't get me wrong, there are definitely cons to this novel, but hopefully my remarks above can help you see it in a different light and potentially give it a try

Lmao I really dedicated and wasted a ton of time for this book.I should’ve read the spoilers early on because the crazy roller coaster ride (not a good ride) was killing me. Half of the time ML was freaking clueless and always made the dumbest mistakes. Don’t come for me and justify him by saying everyone can make mistakes. Not saying FL was the best either. But the ML just drove me nuts.

Firstly, Amater translation is very very good. They actually rewrite the story so the characters are actually 'logical' - as much as as a crazy person is logical - and the story is actually coherent. So these stars are for the rewrite not the original story.

So in this rewrite you will really feel for the FL. She's a very strong woman and she hold on very well against violence by ML. She tried her hardest to get away from him and as a reader you just want to cheer for... more>> her. The ML is certified psycho and nobody try to paint him as other than that. Rich people are really scum, that's what you get from how much this guy get away with everything.

The story is dogblood but the rewrite make it more palatable. The sentence structure and story rhythm also follow American style writing more so its easy to read.

If you like repeated abuse and r*pe on MC, and cheering her on her journey, this is for you. <<less

Once you get past the first series of chapters, it becomes surprisingly addictive for it's unique plotline. This guy has mental issues but learns to change slowly for the MC.

His love is steadfast but shows it the wrong way, perhaps because of his severe paranoia and possessiveness, ocd etc...

They are all mad there. The author must've been into psychological thing. Depression, PTSD, trauma, anxiety disorder, suicidal, self-infliction, anger management issues, narcissist and psychotic ML, constantly r*ped MC... There's a lot going on there. They are all abandoned in different aspects and situation. MC being abandoned by biological and foster parents plus her childhood sweetheart. The second ML abandoned by parents too due to being blind as a child. The ML abandoned by his brother (died in a car crash, resulting to trauma and depression to ML)

Translation quality is really, really good, which gave it an extra star. Otherwise, I would have rated it a 2/5. I really dislike the power imbalance, r*pe, and abuse I see here. But, at the same time, I keep on reading in the dim hopes of seeing MC finally free from ML's clutches. So, I gave it the 2 stars for keeping me reading.

At first, I honestly had high hopes for this novel. But it turns out to be a story of violence where the arrogant CEO treats a weak female MC as his s*x partner.

When I read the scene where the ML said that he only going to make the FL to be his mistress, how he told the FL that being his mistress is better than marrying an average man, while saying all of it with his prideful attitude, I really wish to slap his face hard. Just how shameless can... more>> he be? Doesn't he know that it's a terrible insult for a woman?

And the fact that the FL could only accept whatever the ML says really makes me frustated. I simply couldn't imagine the torture and pain she felt when the ML told that she could only be his mistress-a woman with no pride who had to live in shame and humiliation. That's the worst scenario ever and my heart can't take it to continue reading...

Because of this, I decided to drop this novel once and for all. But I appreciate the author and the translator hard work for this story, so I decided to give it three stars <<less

Actually this novel is really good. The dogblooded drama and the cinderella relationship between ML and FL are top notch. Im not fully reading it bcs I believe I may stop myself in the midst because this novel is too long. -_-

Well, at first I read the novel until chapter 87. At this part I really wish ML and FL break apart. Because it was turn into Stockholm Syndrome.

Then, I found out a comment that said this novel is adapted to a manhua. So I continue read it but only... more>> on chapter when ML breaks up with FL in order to save her from his family. (Around chapter 400+)

Oho, I'm really happy at this moment. Coz finally ML was tortured. He was so arrogant and dominant, so I cherished this part eventhough I feel sad for FL.

Long story short FL was pregnant and was caged to given birth in a tower by ML's mother. Then, she was saved by 2ndML and it turns out that she is a child from a noble family. After getting back to her original family, then she returned to china with so much hatred towards ML and his family.

Yep! FL and ML met again and here we can see that the ML's attitude towards her become mild. Although he is still arrogant but he always hold back his temperament towards FL. He understands that he deserved to be hated by FL so here we can see a character development.

Then, as the manhua is still ongoing, the latest chapter I read is when FL attend a charity banquet and ML came with his partner just to make her jealous. Later, she was forced to entertain the guests by playing a piano. Then 2ndML came like a shining armor to save her at the moment (actually ML is also took a part to save her face).

As I'm still curious how this story ended again I continue reading its novel. Later later later, yeah they finally had a clean break. ML finally realize that he had done many wrongs towards FL.

Well, I hope this is the end, lol. Bcs if the story stopped here I'm satisfied enough. Yet it's still not ended and yeah I still want to reading it.

This story probably isn't for you. I don't think it's for me either, but here I am.

I often get irritated when readers call things r@pe, when it clearly isn't. Here however, it is r@pe. It's not titillating in any way. The ML is a r@pist that regularly assaults women.6

The ML is pretty much a monster. He r@pes the MC, he assaults her regularly and he imprisons her. He is abusive, plain and simple. The only (current) light is that the author doesn't imply there is any enjoyment in the MC's... more>> violation. I feel she doesn't hate and despise him enough, but at least she isn't "quivering from pleasure" while being assaulted.

The ML also sleeps with other women. So there is truly no redeeming qualities to him. This isn't romantic.

I also don't really like the MC. If literally no one likes you, then the problem is probably with you and not the rest of the world. Yes, she has a crappy family, but why didn't she make even one other friend in school, varsity or work? She also spent 6 years constantly trying to break up her ex-bf's relationship.

So, why am I reading this? Maybe because I want to know what the author was thinking writing this sort of toxic story. Will she be able to make me like the characters at the end? Will she be able to do the impossible and make me like a r@pist? Because I don't EVER see that happening, but I want to see her try.

The translation is very good and the translator seems like a very cute person. It's not 100% perfect, but what is?

It's a strange read. The ML is yandere and treats the MC as nothing more than a mistress as of now. He has psychological issues that makes him obsessed w controlling the MC, but there are developments where he seems to he making concessions.

The ML is obssesive, possessive, and abusive so tread lightly those who are faint of heart. I MTL'd the last chapter and it looks to be a happy ending. Unfortunately, I don't see any translators picking up this series, especially with such poor reviews. MTL is bad and about 30% understandable.
