Dont be fooled by the rating. This novel is really awesome. It follows the same story of a reincarnated female MC that want to change the future after all her family was killed after her father was accused of poisoning the emperor.

The MC is just a commoner rather than some noble lady with a prince for fiancee like other female MC novels. Her father is a chef and she are also a chef in her previous life. After reincarnated she got a cheat where she can learn the recipe whenever... more>> she ate something.

And gosh the food p*rn in this novel is amazing. Thanks for the translator for giving the pictures and even recipe of the food after each chapter.

The best thing about this novel is the heartwarming family she had. Even her uncles and cousins are nice as compared with the scheming family in other novels. Her parents really dotes on her and her brother is a silly scholar.

There's no romance yet since the MC is still a 12 years old. But there are 2 love interest from her previous life

So far a solid read. The chapters are quite long and fulfilling. And the translation rate is consistent so far. Give it a try if you like heartwarming read and FOOD p*rn. <<less

Hi there, former translator here. I really want to like this novel, I really, really do. But the MC has too many cheats and if she's a person I'd block her and unfriend her because I hate people like her.

The only saving grace is the food recipe and food p*rn, because it is amazingly described. I can literally feel my mouth water nearly every time she cooks something.

Conversely, this makes me angrier, because this is evidence that the author CAN write, but why can't she put more effort into her... more>> characters? Even brilliant characters' IQ fell from 150 to 44 when they are anywhere near MC!!

There are poems for goodness sake, good poems too! I love the poems, but why the automatic decline in IQ??!!

I have dropped this novel for my sanity, someone else please pick it up. <<less

I feel like the main character has too many cheats when it comes to cooking, since she has all her memories of her previous life (including how to recognize and prepare a lot of dishes) and also new abilities. The author tried to balance this so readers would feel like she's actually struggling with everything, however I don't think he really succeded. Still, the story is interesting and fun to read, I like to see how she deals with people she knew in her previous life (people who helped her... more>> versus those who turned their back on her) and I want to see her revenge. I'm glad the romance part isn't quite there yet since she's only 12, but we already know the potential love interests. <<less

How do I start? This story is a big bag of surprise.

When I first started reading this, I was surprised. It is not quite what I expect of a food novel, especially the first chapter. It is... chilling.

In the second and subsequent chapters, it becomes a bit funny and heartwarming as you are introduced to her family members, and what happened to them in her past life, and their personality. Almost all the conversations are during meal time in the form of eating together. Mouth-watering food greets and tempts you.

Then... more>> it becomes about cooking and her adventures as she started working as a kitchen hand.

Along the way, she met the two love interests in her previous life.

So we have drama, martial arts, family, food, love, comedy etc.

Sometimes, the actions of the family have you laughing, and some moments have you touched. Some moments you were anxious, as the spirit of adventure happens. Then it is love. All of these are interwoven with food.

This is pure gold for me, and I love it. It is one of my favourite novels. <<less

I see food I click!

I love novels with food!

This novel has the somewhat the same vibe with God of Cooking. It blends food (the love of my life) with a good story.

For those who dont know God of Cooking here is how I see the book

Although it has a center on cooking it also gives light to the characters. I like how the MC loves cooking and I really like that ... more>>
Spoiler

she remembers even the favorite food of those she cares for (this is seen on chapters 19-ish).

Theres not too much background yet because the story is still in its early stages but I see lots of potential in it. <<less

Love this translation. It's interesting, refreshing, and best of all, the translators actually provide recipes to the dishes mentioned. The main character is pretty valiant, and although I'm only on chapter 15a, I wholeheartedly recommend this to someone looking for a back-to-her-previous-self cooking plot with delicious male leads... whom haven't really appeared yet since I am still on chapter 15 xD

This is a solid 3.5☆s for anyone that loves foodie type novels. Thru 65 chapters so far, there is a good slice of life feel and a whole lotta cookin'. As the novel progresses you can feel the MC beginning to build her prestige in the food industry. At 65, it's at mild pace right now but you can feel that it's about to bump into hyperdrive now that all the ground work has been laid. I'd definitely recommend this to those that want a feel good, not excessively dramatic,... more>> all-out cooking story.

About the 3.5 stars, I'm very fair about my novels. In my eyes, I doubt there will ever be a 5 star LN as Japanese writing just isn't up to par on a worldly scale to reach a 5. 3.5 is very good for only being 65 chapters into the story and just getting the gears rolling. I see me making a positive edit with the stars in the future with the way this is going (if it gets picked up again). The novel is about to start getting into the tenuous and dramatic events right now which, from the ground work already displayed, should play out wonderfully. I really enjoy this novel right now and have great expectations of its' future events. If it meets what I believe it will, it will definitely be a solid 4☆ LN in the next dozen chapters or so. It's entertaining and brings a fair amount of light drama/tension/black belly and brings a surplus of kitchen fun and business building. Now, it's on the brink of introducing some action and light adventure. What else could you ask for from a light-hearted drama with a touch of black belly?

HOWEVER... DUE TO PERSONAL REASONS THE TRANSLATOR JUST ABRUPTLY DROPPED THIS! IKR?!

SO, IF YOU'RE A FAN OF FOOD & A TRANSLATOR OR, PERHAPS THINKING OF PICKING UP A SMALLER PROJECT FOR YOUR FIRST TIME AT TRANSLATING, PLEASE PICK THIS SWEET LITTLE NOVEL UP FOR THE SAKE OF ALL OF US LEFT WITH ONLY OUR CRAVINGS FOR MORE WEN ROU ;) <<less

It's 3.5 stars for me, meaning, meh, not great not awful. I came for the food. I stayed for the food. I recommend reading for the food (but at times I think, too much food not enough plot). There's practically food p*rn in every chapter and the translations are nicely done. Plus I really do enjoy the recipes that accompanied nearly all the dishes made in the story. What was meh for me was the MC. I did not like her that much. She is not horrible by any means.... more>> Her "incredible" skills with cooking is understandable as she merely transmigrated after her death and not reincarnated. She just feels a little wishy-washy to me. Plus
Spoiler

I somewhat agree with the VIP scholar when he vehemently refused to take her brother in as a disciple just because she cooked him some "commoner" food. I mean, come on, back in those ages next to royalty, scholars were on the top of the food chain. She really expected him to take her brother in when she said it herself that her brother had failed the exams 3 times! Part of me thinks that calling the brother an idiot may have been too much, but the other part of me say, failing the first two times I get, but after the 3rd try, well, you're obviously not really trying or you are, indeed, not that bright. So okay, when I call her wishy-washy it's like this. If I was her and really loved these guys and that by loving me, I caused them to walk to their deaths, I would avoid them by any means. No matter how much I loved them, I would rather they be alive somewhere in the world then dead at my side. What? Fate throwing them in my face by making them come eat at the restaurant I work at? Well, make my presence as small as possible then gtfo when no one notices. What? Fate makes them save me from bandits? Well, hohoho, fate aka author, would have to work harder to make the plot more feasible.

Sorry, a little rant there, but remember, I stopped at ch. 54. 54 sounds like there may have been some plot developments already but this is a somewhat laid back transmigration story so no plot have been developed yet other then her superwoman skills in the kitchen and meeting the two MLs. If the story gets better farther down the line, IDK, but for now, I am annoyed enough about the MC's sanctimonious speech that I've decided to stop reading this novel for the meantime, but I still say read it, don't read it, all you'll really be missing out on are the food p*rn. <<less

I could say that it was a good start. I keep on laughing toward to the father of MC haha they were hilarious, I thought she'll not pick any of the three but it seems like she ended up with the scholar

(。•̀ᴗ-) ✧ well that would be natural since they had more scenes than the other potential interest. I was hoping that she'll get three of them too bad ¯_ (ツ) _/¯

Like many have said, lots of food p*rn and accompanying pics. Other than that, the plot has been slow moving and the MC seems a little... brainless? She has her good moments though. The two (not sure if there's more) love interests have also been introduced already, but other than the short appearances and brief rundown of what happened the first time, we haven't really seen much of them.

For the translation quality, it's not bad since sometimes it can be tricky translating from Chinese to English in a way that... more>> makes sense. However, there's some grammar/spelling mistakes throughout (that do get corrected when pointed out). The footnotes are also much appreciated, to give a little bit more insight. <<less

This is food p*rn, plain and simple. There is some plot and backstory, and the characters aren't too bad, but we all know why you really read this novel -- for the food!

Seriously beware, if you read this story before dinner or late at night before bed, you're going to be in agony... so hungry...

One thing that I find... interesting... about this story is that the main character clearly had 2 love interests at the same time in her previous life. They were with her at the end and died... more>> at the same time. In her new life, she goes for the same two guys again. So I'm not sure how this is going to turn out, but I'm betting on polygamy/ a mini-harem.

Lastly, the translation quality is about a 4 out of 5. Clear and easy to understand, but with frequent small spelling and grammar mistakes. But it accomplishes what it needs to -- beautiful and tasty descriptions of delicious dishes. You probably won't even notice the errors because you'll be too busy drooling. <<less
