After the nuclear warfare, massacres started to spread throughout the entire world. The order between humans completely collapses, and the strong eats while the weak gets eaten becomes the #1 rule.

When you lose the chains of desire, it means that you no longer have a road to go forward. You can only turn left, or face right.

Hell is to the left, but Hell could also to the right.

Meh, It was okay. Lots of suspense which carried me through to finishing it. It was pretty standard fare and entertaining for the first four books. However the last two books the pace of the plot slowed to a snails pace and I started flipping through it looking for Su's story to actually proceed.

I kept waiting for Su to have that power moment or touching reunion. Never got it. Instead I spent chapter after chapter reading side characters almost dying. Reunions were a paragraph and unfeeling.

Spoiler

Personally as Su becomes less human I struggle to keep liking his character

Too much information dump. Too many questions yet it left unanswered.

Sometimes the story is abit of dumb, but entertaining. This is just like watching transformer, bugs bunny, or superman. Full of action pack. But when u think again of the reasons behind the actions it's really s*upid. Or like horror movie. So much suspense. But doesn't help the plot.
I actually rate this novel as movie stated above. So. It's good to be read for the first time.

I would binge read other novel. But not this.. Currently rated 3 star.... more>> Ok novel to be read if Ur bored.

If you like Japanese novel that talks about daily life what they do and etc. This is an upgraded novel for you. <<less

The story starts with an interesting and really good written plot but after a view chapters there is no red thread anymore (after losing the „daughter“ to someone more powerfull). I think that the author writes from chapter to chapter. Sometimes there will be good arcs sometimes not. Basicly all the chinese novels I get in contact to has this problem.

The intersting thing in this novel is the skill development of the different main and sidekicks charakters.

The bad thing is that the author writing style leads to a dead end... more>> in each f*cking arc. So he have to break radical with bis story to write the new arc/idea. For example:

Spoiler

MC found a base in a good postion for development. Everything in the Story (around 3.5 volumes) points to this base as the new home for him and his entourage. Until the author reachs the dead ends of dead ends in his story, so the MC and his best buddy’s have to leave this location to settle somewhere else.....[\spoiler]

The story gets creepy from time to time but is is still coherent to the story universe plot.

But the author have to switch from the „walking dead“ social factions issues to the basics of the start, demon hunting!

[collapse]

I am still reading the story because I want to know more about the skill development but I have to tell you that a lot of chapters can be skipped without missing a part of the story development. <<less

A good story I'd recommend for anyone anytime! Rare to see a story where the author doesn't lose focus after some arcs.. It even has an ending that makes you feel like 'this is exactly how it should end'

It started great but then the story takes a hard left turn into crap. I couldn't keep reading it after this chapter not because the chapter was particularly bad I just tired of the writing and the story.

Spoiler

It was great until the MC joins the dragonrider army. Then the story turns into a mess.

Reading this story was like reading a child's essay on the time they went to Disneyland. They describe the things they witnessed, and ultimately, if they're not your child, you simply don't give a sh*t and forget everything they wrote less than a day later. If you've read Monarch of Evernight (another one of the author's novels) and liked it, you'll probably like this story. I read Monarch of Evernight and ultimately dropped it too for the same reason I'm dropping Demon Hunter.

Things happen to the MC, and the MC... more>> reacts. He has the personality of a fly. Flies' brains aren't very large, and they're more like programs than living things: if object approaches -> fly away; if thing smells like poop -> land on it; if bright light in vicinity -> fly towards light; Flies don't want anything for themselves, they're just living to live and reacting to stimulus in a preprogrammed manner in the same way the MCs that this author writes behave.

It's not inherently bad to have things happen to the MC to advance the plot—Harry Potter receives a letter; some hobbits get a visit from a wizard with gray hair—but when the MC has the personality of a puddle of water, it's boring to read about. The author's indirect writing style doesn't help either. Imagine this:

"Tyler went to the store. There was a black dog sleeping near the entrance. Its fur was sleek and shiny, glistening from the sunlight shining down from above. Half its body was covered by the shadow produced by the eaves that had been constructed years before Tyler had been born. The bell attached to the door jangled when Tyler pushed on the metal handle and took a step inside."

By the way, the main character is the black dog, not Tyler. All I did was use six sentences to convey to the reader that the main character, the dog, was sleeping. It's a slog to read through and let's us know absolutely nothing about the dog's thoughts and motives.

Granted, I only read the first 3 chapters of the novel (prologue included), which technically is 9 chapters because chapter 1 and 2 are split into 4 parts, so the writing style may change later on. However, it took roughly half an hour to read as much as I did, and I don't want to put myself through an additional twenty-thirty hours of sh*t before I get to something good.

1.5/5 stars. Dropped and definitely won't pick up again. <<less
