As a former top player, he would obviously fight to save the world… Yeah, no. Time to plan and prepare for the upcoming events, better to use that knowledge to get ahead rather than fight with gods.

Follow Marvin’s journey through this new world.

☆☆☆ - Score 3.2

Surprisingly addicting novel at first. However, it becomes more unrealistic with stats and near death experiences every 5 seconds as it progresses, with no real character depth.

It's hard to say what makes this addicting for the average male reader... but it is. It's a mix of many novels that picks up like a giant snowball.

Just read it and you'll find out for yourself. ... more>>
Spoiler

You'll know by c15 if it's for you or not. And it gets progressively better. The only flaw is the introduction to guns / sha clan later... for obvious reasons.

[collapse]
It's worth a read if you like martial arts, magic, comedy, game transmigration, fantasy, and semi-decent logic.

It's not Reverend Insanity, A Will Eternal, Reincarnator, Rebirth of the Malicious... good
- but would still recommend for consideration <<less

The opening chapters make the story look extremely generic but the following makes quite an interesting story and one aspect that stood out to me the most was the world building. The progression of the story is also good and there are actually quite a lot of secondary characters that are both likeable and do reappear quite often or are properly set up for the future. I can really appreciate the villains build up and the foreshadowing that the story makes.

As for this story weakest point... well, MC is definitely... more>> OP for his rank but the challenges he faces still put him under hard pressure and well while everything usually turns out alright at the end, MC actually doesn't always win which is a plus. STILL!!! With the story's premise in which MC is the gamer transported into the game world with both extreme knowledge and extreme end-game skills, the story really doesn't feel fair and MC is clearly put into the Chosen one shoes. Still while usual chosen one is simply super talented or supper lucky, the premise in which MCs are :teleported to the past/they replay the game/they relive their lives: while keeping all their memories and fighting instincts and skills clearly break the balance of MC from the get go. I personally grew to hate this starting point because abilities aside the fact that MC pretty much knows everything there is to know and is never surprised by anything that story throws at him. Like this very often the story simply turns into MC making his great plan of getting strong again and following from one point to another. In this story there are still surprises for MC sure but in the end, MC should be a character that reader should relate with and be able to explore the world through him, here however MC already knows everything so how can reader relate. <<less

Underrated. Severely underrated.

You need to read at least 200 chapters before you start appreciating this novel. The author constantly strives for improvement throughout the novel and you can only appreciate it if you read at least a 100 chapters. The beginning is downright mediocre. It takes time to reach a minimum level of quality. But after that it's truly enjoyable. There's no real romance. It's a book for people who love adventure stories without drama, but there's a lot of mu*der and bloodshed, so I can't recommend it for minors.

The... more>> translation is decent, but sometimes the author/translator makes a mess out of names.

The author was probably very young when he/she wrote this.

The ending is incomplete or open. This should have a sequel that should be ongoing in Chinese. It's prequel hasn't been translated yet.

I am giving full 5 stars because I actually enjoyed it. It's not too long, not too short, no unwanted drama. The beginning was sh*t and the novel is incomplete, but it's better than many novels with higher rating.

I hope we get to see the sequel/after story. <<less

It suddenly goes downhill when he gets that gunner subclass or something (forgot the name) imagine a medieval setting transmigrated to an another world ranger/night walker/night monarch which literally just means some guy who uses 2 daggers to assassinate people suddenly gets a class that lets him use guns and cannons to literally obliterate strong enemies. Plus the author introduces love interest that turned crazy due to the book MC gave her to advance to legend rank and the MC beheaded her like its nothing. Then theres this girl named... more>> bamboo send by his enemies to kill him and almost succeded and everyone though MC was dead but MC was protected by plot armor and when he came back MC saw his allies got revenge for him, then they give him her head which has its eyes open and looks like it suffered an unimaginable torture before dying. I mean cmon author, whats the point in introducing a character only to get them beheaded later in the story and if the story is that dark then why delete some mature scene? Cause thats just unresonable

Its ok but Nothing amazing.

The Power System is really messed up.

Spoiler

op can fight someone close to god level really early on like level 5 or something. And when he gets close to god level he just slaughters an army alone even though it is said that not even mages, who are the best class, could do that.

[collapse]

Even if MC wasn't strong at all it wouldnt matter he has like 10 people who can fight gods do whatever he wants right at the Start so he wouldnt even need to do anything Himself.

MC refuses to powerlevel for some reason.

Spoiler

he reaches legend after 5 months or so but if he had just Grinded some Monsters he could have done it in much less time. He got like two levels in one day the one time he Tried and he only needs 20. Also after reaching legend he could just grind more exp to level sub classes but no he doesn't do that just so he can have more close Fights.

[collapse]

Romance comes out of nowhere he Talks to the girl three times and suddenly she is in love with him and the author never clarifies what op is feeling until a few hundred chapters later. All MC did was bring her a book he knew of which she could have gotten herself if he told her where it was.

Spoiler

Also the romance never goes anywhere after that

[collapse]

MC is way too strong after 500 chapters so now he goes somewhere else for two weeks where everyone is on his level for some reason. But somehow its ok to not look after his territory in that time even though he has countless enemies.

The ending is super rushed. He needs to get those super rare unique Things there are only a couple in the entire universe and he gets the last 4 in 6 chapters or so. <<less

A novel that starts out great, becomes a failure later. In the beginning with the action and how it plays out, it is a very enjoyable experience to read through the adventures of Marvin. From the beginning we see how he got stronger, go through many adventures and hardships and finally arrive at a point that he's recognized as a strong man. So what now?

OH, LET'S JUST GO AHEAD AND RESET ROMANCE BY GIVING THE CHARACTER AMNESIA

OH NO EVERYONE IS NOW MARVIN'S ENEMY.

After chapter 400, the novel is just boring,... more>> useless/pointless action where MC triumphs over everything. Very mediocre at best. I'd probably give it a one star if the story wasn't enjoyable until chapter 350 or so. <<less

And yet again a gem I overlooked because many comments made me think it was just another badly written story with a psycho MC. How wrong I was!

Pro

  • Great MC, not powerful in the beginning, and you really his growth in the story. He also is kind hearted, while not being dumb or a pushover at all, worthy of admiration actually. And best of all, he actually uses his game knowledge for something instead of getting stronger "just because" like many Chinese stories.
  • Scheming and conspiracies. Don't expect many foolish antagonists here.
  • Great cast of characters, all of them unique in their own ways, many way more powerful than the MC.
  • Intriguing setting, you feel that the author is actually going somewhere with the lore, instead of adding random things as fillers.
  • Good idea in the beginning, bypassing the transmigration in itself, and starting a few days later.
  • The romantic subplot is actually good.
  • Gigantic well translated chapters.
Con

  • Way too much action, I wish it took the time to stop sometime. Even if I know there is a time limit.
  • This story needs a map. Seriously.
  • The level working is kinda weird : other people don't have the game like interface MC has, but they still can talk about levels?

Do not read this. There is essentially no ending. The author basically said, "I'm not writing anymore, go read my next story." All of the plots, character development, etc. (Developed over 700 chapters) were forcefully ended in a few chapters so he could create an absurd plot bridge to his next novel. If the author's not even going to bother correctly finish his story, you shouldn't bother reading it.

So far so good lovely read also I saw someone comparing this to breakers based on the premise of "VR turned real-world". That's an old concept and that story really isn't very much like this story at all.

....

Ok, so I'm updating this because I feel like I probably should actually review it. The premise is as I have already stated: "VR turned reality". Our MC begins his new life in the body of a young noble who has recently died. In Cliche fashion, the noble is a small one and... more>> is discriminated against because he is weak. This ends almost immediately once our MC enters his body. In several interesting twist and turns, he manages to make the noble whom he has inherited actually useful. On top, all this is the fact that the world is ending or rather heading towards a great change.

This motivates our MC to prepare himself for that change so that his new life isn't a short one. What's interesting to me though is the MCs mindset. he's cold but he isn't heartless many times he goes to great lengths for people he isn't even related to. Also, he is smart but isn't infallible on numerous occasions he gets it wrong. Although there have been no major setbacks so far its good to see an author allowing their characters to make mistakes that's always a plus in my book.

Do be forewarned though our MC is cold almost right off the bat if that turns you off I get it. Also, he is logical almost to the point of machine-like sometimes especially towards people whom he has no relationship with. It's not a perfect novel but its an entertaining one with a story that's pretty good to boot. <<less

I have never been more let down from a novel with a promising premise than I was by this.

There's lots of small plotholes/inconsistencies in the plot and worldbuilding in the start, but it's the kind you can look over due to the promising premise. As typical from these novels, the MC is a particularly unrepentant, unbothered mu*der-hobo who never even pauses to once reflect on that, but if you can ignore that, it still has a great start.

But by the end of the novel, the author betrays all promises and... more>> premises and the MC literally

Absolutely terrible, bullsh*t ending combined with general decline of quality from the mid-point resulted in what was 4/5 at the first half become a 1/5 at the end.

Save yourself the trouble and skip this novel. <<less

Ok, so I just finished the whole book... WTF??

Before going further with the spoilers, let's do the actual review.

First of all, the book start with quite an interesting premise. Even though the main character's backstory isn't really explained, his character and personality is defined enough. The secondary characters are.... alright I guess? Shallow as always but at the same time, they arn't just evil because they are evil.... (other than a few characters who's role is to be evil). They normally have a reason for it.

First arc spoilers:

Spoiler

He reincarnate in the body of a young noble who just had his territory taken over by monster controlled by his uncle whos is controlled by an evil cult who is controlled by someone.... you get the gist of it right? His goal is to get stronger and protect his territory to prepare for the great calamity, which is in fact the invasions of gods.

[collapse]

Some bad points:

Spoiler

1. The escuse of having food memory is used to facilitate the plot armor of the main character, yet, sometimes this "good memory" is no longer and "regret not having better memory".... Utter bullsh*t if you ask me.

2. The quest system is used at the beginning, then forgotten, then used again (100 chapters latter) , then forgotten again forever until a reason is given (400 chapters latter) being that missions do not give enough exp or something...

3. I believe, if I counted correctly, he started from being a waste to becoming an absolute @ss destroyer in only... 1 year? Yhea.... the others at this level took around 1000+ years to get there....

4. Many plots are oppened then just forgotten or never explained or just killed by the author using god powers.

5. Hints of a harem protaginist everywhere with many females falling for him. Thankfully never exploited by the author whom used a kind of forced love relationship between the MC and a almost legend wizzard girl. This relationship lasted about 200 chapters before it broke for the sake of the plot.

5. And most importantly, the ending was absolute garbage. The author left SOOO MUCH unfinished stuff and ended the book in a way that suggest there will be a second book, but there isn't.

Like, for real:

Spoiler

a) He hasn't attained the highest level of power but it get rushed and go from "I can kill low god with no problems" to "no one can hurt me and I just stopped time for the whole world" in about 15 chapters....

b) What about the two giant fukking world destroying snakes you just released from their ancestral seal? No one else care about them?

c) What is a tr*sh story without random and utturly useless time fukkery-doo?

d) What happened in the in to the slumbering ancients gods, are they dead or alive? What about the night monarch, how did he die in the end? What's going on with the grand father in the end? And ok, a 500 chapter long ennemy turns out to be a disguised ally...

(Well as you can see... it has a garbage ending)

[collapse]
[collapse]

But still, surprisingly, it was quite the enjoyable read for me. It was packed full of actions, new skills and level up every few chapters, Side-characters POVs, many undiscovered mysteries being discovered. <<less

Fun in the beginning, but at one point the author loses ideas of how to further the plot. He keeps MC's knowledge hidden from the reader so that he can come up with things on the go, because he doesn't have a layout for the story in his mind - a cheap method to hide incompetence. Overall still better than average.

I would have given it a full 5 star if there was not such "To be continued, but don't hope for it" type of ending.

There was no conclusion in the end, so the readers will have to be imagine on their own wits. The last chapter felt totally rushed. There was no further hint to what happened to other side characters.

It started great, it had a Release The Witch and The Amber Sword mixed together feeling. The MC was trying to prevent the Great Calamity that would destroy most of the world he transmigrated to. He did, and it happened early in the story, but all of a sudden so many other events happened that the “Great Calamity” was an afterthought. A novel which got me really interested, until it totally messed up everything.

My personal suggestion would be that you can read it, but don't finish it. It will leave you very disappointed.

Let's look at the pros and cons.

Pros

    • Great base storyline and a Well developed world.
    • Exciting battles, and our MC pretty much creating miracles to achieve things that should be impossible.
    • MC who knows what's most important, which is protecting those whom he holds dear. Not like those novels where MC sets out on journey, and that's the last time you hear about their family.
Cons

    • Biggest drawback is the f*cked up ending. It was going well for around 600-650 chapters, then it just rushed like crazy. Author himself is dissatisfied with the ending and I'm certain that 90% of the readers will surely dislike the ending as well.
    • As mentioned before, ending is terrible, in fact you can't even say it's an ending. So many things are left unclarified like his grandfather. Author said that he made ending like this for his next novel which will probably be an extension of this, but personally I'm not going to read it and I'm really mad for what was done.
MAJOR SPOILER ALERT. ENDING OF THE NOVEL REVEALED, so read the spoiler at your own risk. In short, ending is like author just found a way to literally pause the problem and find solution later, which I assume will be in next novel.

    • Spoiler

Marvin can't solve the actual problem without sacrifices do he just freezes time and goes to a higher universe along with the time dragon to find a solution.

      [collapse]
    • Over glorified protagonist. Author makes the MC seem more important and more powerful than he actually is. Whenever he does something good for Feinan (their world), it is just broadcasted to everyone and everyone is in awe or atleast everyone is somehow notified of it........ The hell that's just too much glorification.
    • Enemies such as gods are said to be so powerful, but whenever against Marvin, they don't seem like it. They are said to be almighty beings, but their actions and how easily the MC deals with them makes it less impressive
    • Overpowered class. There will never be a game with a class like Night Walker or Ruler of the Night. Such a game would earn the wrath of the critics. And the Night Walker organisation, glorified a lot, exists just to help the MC. They have soany powerful members, but their impact other than when helping Marwin is quite negligible in their world.
    • Too much filler text (just like any other chinese novel). Author praises Marvin's achievements and his abilities multiple times, way too much to be previse. His past achievements are repeatedly mentioned so many times, probably just to act as filler. Abilities and powers are exaggerated a lot, especially eenemy abilities, like saying how great it is, only for the next line to say how Marvin's awesomeness counters it. Removing all those junk fillers would probably reduce the chapter count a lot.
    • During the last 50 or so chapters, MC could just ignore others power. Author boosted up his powers so much, levels no longer mattered. Power level is inconsistent. Author says he could "handle Mid gods easily", and around 20-30 chapters layer says that he "might be able to handle Mid gods". Last few chapters, he just treats gods like insects.
Wanted to give it 2 stars after finishing, but I did enjoy reading it (I think I did, although the unecesary text was annoying). So overall I've rated 3 stars.

An action packed story with lots of tense fights, great adventures and life death situations. Good read overall, just make sure you stop reading before the ending.

Spoiler

In this chapter he explains to his servant that the reason why he is a tiny bit smarter and stronger is because he had a dream and some immortal teacher has helped him.

This was a childish and dumb explanation when he could easily just say that his recent experiences have just made him grow up a bit as a person and has decided to take his life more seriously. He recently got conned by a "Friend" and also his Uncle sent monsters to his house making him homeless basically. This would make most people learn and grow as people a bit. His weird and childish explanation wasn't needed at all. Even if he changed greatly, it's not like people would suspect someones soul took over his body. So disappointing because I was hoping for better.

3/5 at best. Very average.

Gamer is transported to the video game world in the past. It has a cliche premise, and what is supposed to be a desperate struggle for strength feels like a bland robot following a prescription without much surprise.

It took quite a struggle for me to reach c477. I dropped it several times as it just felt too boring.

It only starts to get interesting somewhere around c400 when things really start to deviate from the MCs knowledge and it feels like there could actually be some plot... more>> developement.

The real problem with this novel are the info dumps in most action sequences. There are a frightening amount of info dumps along with regurgitated information blended into action sequences and pretty much throughout the novel. As an expert in skimming bs it was difficult to skim without losing some important bits, but absolutely required skimming.

The characters are not bland, and there is a decent cast. They are not cliche and that is one of the redeeming qualities of this novel.

2/5 for the majority of the novel. Upgraded to 3/5 by chapter 477, but it may drop again. <<less

After bracing myself to read to ch.200, now I'm sure that this novel does not fit my palate, in another words, it's a garbage.

What can I say. This novel is actually my guilty pleasure. It's not great but it's not bad either. There's a bit of inconsistency in the story but it's not at that tr*sh shadow hack level yet. The MC went batman at first but then completely forgot about it and use his skill openly like nobody business. It tried to add some kind of kingdom building setting but the implementation is quite poor. Seems like the author needs to do more research on that. The romance seems forced. But heck... more>> whatever. It got daily release and I'm out of thing to read daily anyway. Cheers. <<less
