By coincidence, Li Yunmu found a super machine from humanity’s age of darkness. From that point onwards, his ordinary life would never be the same! Aptitude? Innate talent? What are these? Could they be eaten?

I have neither aptitude nor innate skill, but my shadow can level up using hacks. Experience, Ability points, battle prowess… all of them could be hacked. Even while he is asleep or tired, he could still increase his skills.

[Ding, your shadow has killed an ant, you have gained experience points and ability points.] [Ding, your shadow has successfully killed a dragonfly, it dropped a dimensionality box.] Crap, even killing insects can also increase his experience and get him rewards. What else!

This novel is a xianxia developed like a game (different terms, but the content is the same). If you like the genre try it.

World: After the apocalypse caused by dimensional disturbances (beast, monsters ecc...) the population is drastically decreased from over 7.6bilion to several hundred milion, the people developed a flux energy and are divided in poor, common, half fluxer and fluxer... more>>
Spoiler

(the fluxer are divided in who-know how many other tipes, until now there are normal fluxer, dark fluxer (offensive), light fluxed (supporter) and dual fluxer (summoner like? in c47 we start to know about them)

[collapse]

Story: MC discover/buy a old artifact (almost like a pc) and start his journey to be stronger, the narration is fast paced and from a common man the MC became a flux energy user (the peak of humanity), only to discover that there are far stronger fluxer and here begin the true story, with the help of "artifact" called shadow hack (actually a shadow of himself that can exp dimensional monster in auto-mode, like the rpg games on a smartphone with the auto-play button) the MC hack literally the world building, this system is a complete cheat, everything explained in the world-building from author go in to the tr*shcan after a couple of chapter.

Spoiler

Thanks to his cheat-system, the MC have to hide his true strenght along the story, he don't know anything about the world, but when a problem pop-up and he don't know how cover it from others, he can ask the hack-system like iron man with J.A.R.V.I.S. for a solution. Like a game, there is a skill system (varius cultivation) with grade A-B-C-D-E-F and maybe S and others, the MC learn his first skill grade A after killing an ant, killing dimensional monster for exp, he gain skill point too to upgrade his skills, each skill have 10level and then should "evolve" in a better version e.g. copper skin after 10 level became iron skin, then after 10level go up to steel ecc... ecc...

The combat system for now is divided in groups, each person of group with a specific role, like a game, hunter/scout, ranged, tank, warrior ecc.. ecc...

After a couple of chapter you can easily guess the MC will go (in the future) solo exping because he is op

[collapse]

This novel is interesting and hilarius at the same time, the ideas from the author are intriguing, but poorly developed-inserted in the story (in my opinion), e.g. the first chapter, the most amusing chapter I have ever read, the author painted the MC like a smart-ass and let him do s*upid actions just for the sake of starting the novel. (not just 1, but several, that no normal people would do, let alone a smart-one)

Spoiler

Sometimes is cringy the explanation the author give, just to hide the MC powers, e.g. c46-47 where I stopped, and something else about his shadow utilization in the virtual-dimension-reality he can log into

Absolutely amazing. Fast character development, interesting world view/ background.

The game element is fine, lately there have been many with this genre coming out and growing quite popular, but what made this story seems broken is ... more>>
Spoiler

the automatic bot system

[collapse]

Well from the description of the story one can already figure out what made this broken anyway.

Overall the story progressing smoothly and exciting without anything dragging out for long chapters. At this time of my review this story may just touch the introduction so don't expect much, but we can at least expect a good story since it's being published by Qidian. <<less

Putting a 3 star since you have to rate it to write a review. From the synopsis it seems a bit interesting, but nothing to write home about, I guess? Seems slightly like those wish-fulfillment stories where the MC gains power though ridiculous means and is absurdly OP.

The reason I write the review though, is to address the racism - while I didn't read it, racism WOULD BE acceptable, BUT ONLY IF THE SETTING JUSTIFIES IT, i.e. The setting is socially based on the society of 19th century North America,... more>> since s*aves, and black people in general, were treated as something less than humans, as uncultured savages, wild beasts (my source is the "Narrative" of Frederick Douglass, since I had it in class recently, so I remember bits about how they were viewed). That's the only reason racism could be acceptable in a novel, though that's still not exactly okay. Unless there is another reason why there must be racism, though I think if an author wants to add racism to their book, they should add a reason why it's there, and preferably, be it in the foreword or the afterword, or the synopsis, write that they do not share the views of the characters, and the views are because of the setting <<less

This novel is simply painful. The MC casually commits genocide on a whole intelligent race (dwarf witches) and with this, he indirectly kills a large number of humans. After this, his reaction is like: "Whoops, unfotunate, but I benefited, so f*** them".

His cheat is the dumbest cheat I can even think of, and in general, the whole novel is written poorly. The MC is advancing in his cultivation as fast as a cheetah on steroids. Other people are saying that his advancment should be impossible under such a short period... more>> of time. One day later, he is at least 2 or 3 times more powerful. You can find novels, where someone comprehends something and becomes much stronger, but here, he just kills weak monsters (so weak, that even characters labeled as "idiotic" and "useless tr*sh" can kill them on their own with some good armor and weapons). And on top of this, he just cr*ps on the ranking system: if you think in the cultivation levels of Desolate Era, then he as a Zifu Disciple should be able to kill an Earth Immortal without external help!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, what the hell. <<less

Boring read, no story, and it doesn't make sense.... Fighting ants on his computer, going to VR dimensions, real life mutation monsters this novel is all over the place.... AND HOW COME THIS CHEAT SYSTEM is from the Dark ages? when author claims that the dark ages lost because they had no mean to defend themselves? This novel is pretty s*upid

There are som novels that are excellent, some other are just plain cliche and there are other that are just plain and simply bad. MC has a cheat that creates no repercussions to him, has every cliche that you can possible have (lady friend betrayal, incredibly s*upid face slapping, etc) and is not even subtle. After all the cliches comes the errors on the story, from 24hs transformation from zero to hero (including personality) to totally unreal economy (totally a mess). This makes me wonder how can this story be... more>> in the 2nd place of qi ranking (at this moment). Convesations, descriptions, people, everything is nonsensical. Easily the worst novel I've ever read.

There should be an achievement for writing and another for translating a terrible novel. <<less

One word that describes this novel: Mismatched.

It feels like the author can't quite decide how he wants the story to be and changes from chapter to chapter. The ranking system is particularly random compared to the typical xianxia novel. The biggest issue I had was the pacing, MC gets access to OP powers way too early and the story just flounders around from where. It doesn't help that the author tries to cram in as many Xianxia cliches as he can into the story, making it even messier than it... more>> should be. The lack of details makes this even worse, that even after 100 chapters, I still can't make sense of the world quite yet.

I will keep on reading for another 100 chapters or so and if the novel doesn't start making more sense then I'll drop it. <<less

Highly over-rated and over-hyped. The plot is just so-so with characters being one-dimensional and pale. His 'shadow hack' OP system is an interesting concept though. Most of the dialogues are just between him & his system so far. So far not that impressed, will drop it if it continues to be so. Maybe it's one of those novels which takes a while to pick up so lets see. Only time will tell.

lmao, after more than 3 years not reading on webnovel, their culture of promoting tr*sh novels still the same, deleting real and honest bad reviews, this one, 1st chapter makes me pfft, what's this, an edgy 2nd grade syndrome sever case MC, then the typical cliche family background came, then the what the heck power up bullsh*t not even mentioning the unbalance super fast character development that does'nt make any sense. This is outright badly written novel.

By far the worst progressing novel i've ever read.

Up to around chapter 300-400 the story is consistent with what it launched out as,

However past 400 (lateish-chapters) Author became very weird... The progression happened randomly, random time skips, characters and events are just happening and the readers have to hope its explained. The original progression of the system is thrown out of the window and just a encyclopedia until late 600's where its nature completely changes and the story does a full 180.

I don't think you should read this with... more>> any intent of a good story and actual ending. The author seems to have lost his mind on his story, there's just too many new genres being added in at the later games, it was like the author began reading norse mythology and other novels, late-novel-writing of shadow hack and begun to fanboy over those genres and he just threw it in!

FYI, the power scaling is as consistent as MGA. "MC is sooooo strong in this new world, his old world could only experience 40% of this growth at most!" "oh shit, he's being beaten by old world people after advancing to a inexplicable power in the new world"

Inevitably, there was 50+ chapters wasted of character growth that was thrown out as soon as the author needed content. <<less

Filler-no-jutsu...

You've been warned. This novel is bad, really bad. The author fills up 90% of recent chapters with unnecessary information, probably just to increase his word count. This leads to a story so bad, even the translator is fed up translating it.

The world building is bad; the plot, which started out good, is now bad and distasteful.

The Beginning is good :

  • Unique Cultivation system - Fluxer
  • Unique World Building - Many Dimension, but have restriction related cultivation realm
  • Unique Cheat - Shadow Hack
  • Character Development - from the beginning MC just ordinary student that attend ordinary school and MC don't have high IQ that make all character have IQ lower than MC (because author IQ same as Li Yunmu). the system to suggested MC go to the path absolute power or we can say BRUTE FORCE or BARBARIAN way.
  • Plot - two word "black hole"
After Chapter 50+ go down :

  • Unique Cultivation system - just absorb some sh*t that dropped from monster and level up.
  • Unique World Building - Dimension have restriction so MC can KILL son of Sage and get TREASURE!!!
  • Unique Cheat - Shadow Hack, this cheat more OP than A.I. Chip Leylin, but MC just doesn't know what all function and limit the system had. first can buy cultivation manual from tr*sh to ????, 2. generate shadow, 3. drop item box - random (author will), 4. many more.....
  • Character Development - just glorify mc
  • Plot - same black hole

Honestly, this novel puts together almost every problem I have with most Xianxia and throws a fairly bad translation into the mixer.

The author has the usual problem of telling you something is awesome instead of showing it. Expositions come at the drop of a dime to explain to you why certain equipment is god-like and you should bow your head in reverence just before something more amazing is explained to be even more amazing. Fights are slightly interesting, slightly. The reasoning behind most of the characters decisions within the entire... more>> story of what I read through has been almost cardboard cutout style. Conversations are rather bland and almost always consist of exposition about place X, Person Y, or God-like equipment Z (or some combination of the three). Every time something happens, someone inexplicably knows everything there is to know about that thing and feels the need to explain it to everyone around them. As far as personalities? Maybe the MC has a slight hint of one developing, but from the 50+ chapters I had desperately sloughed through, I couldn't really say any of them were more interesting than a print-out handed to me out on the streets.

Overall, I feel that this story has a lot to be desired, including a competent editor. <<less

This is my first review on NU and I jumped in SPECIFICALLY to write a review for this tr*sh novel.

Please for the love of god DO NOT read this novel. The world building may sound fancy but any person with a slight knowledge of Physics that it is complete GARBAGE.

The story development is bland and it has no direction of where it is going. Forget about the character development, the MC is a madman one second and a white knight the other second.

I wasted 1 MONTH on this ABSOLUTE GARBAGE... more>> of a story and I would NEVER recommend it to anyone. <<less

Seems interesting, and I am not sure why people are calling it racist. I didn't see any discrimination or hate vs the other races, just surprise/wonder at the different appearance which makes sense considering the MC had never seen a non-Asian human before that one time. I will have to read more to see if he actually is racist.

Plot-wise, the "hack" item seems OP but only as OP as most xianxia novels.

Started off good, interesting concept. With the introduction of the origin world, it slowly starts to veer off course. Things introduced or discussed in earlier chapters never happen, so why even introduce it? Characters just disappear or forgotten. A group of followers gets kidnapped, after which are never mentioned again. Out of nowhere, MC's strength starts increasing without cultivating after he becomes a god. His personality seems to change out of nowhere towards then end. And in all honesty, DO NO READ. Not because it is entirely horrible, but because... more>> even though it has a "complete" status, it definitely feels like it got canceled or the author died, and is not a finished story, so why bother reading an incomplete story. <<less

I come back to this to leave a bit of my thoughts. It's a mediocre cultivation. The characters are meh but I can give a pass for most of them. The MC is not interesting, quite damning indeed.

There were two things which made me read a substantial amount for this. The system and the passive growth. I like systems in novels esp when paired with cultivation and passive growth are things that are not explored enough for my taste. Later on, the novel dismantles these ideas and goes to being... more>> a simple action novel which it is not good at.

There are plenty of twists and turns that make no sense. Character motivations are all over the place. Strength progression kinda made sense at the beginning. It was still okay for a large part and then the system changed itself and then it all went downhill, even more than before.

I still have a fond memory of the first 10 chapters or so when he was still killing grasshoppers and I had an okay time reading this, so I'll give this an inflated 3 stars.

Otherwise I'd give it a 2 stars <<less

This novel used to be awesome! Always ranked high on webnovel because the first 200 chapters or so had great world building, unique ways for the MC to become OP etc. But once our MC went to a new world, the story went downhill fast, thus all the poor ratings on here.

In the new world, the storyline turned weird, lots of secrets and mysteries that just kept going and going and going. It got to the point where I actually yelled out WTF?! Another mystery he's going to look into?!

And... more>> the regurgitating of descriptions and information already given to use a few chapters prior would come up very often as if the author thinks us readers have short-term memory loss had forgotten what we read. Either that or he is trying to add word count. Then of course, there's a incessant info dump that's not too bad but does take up the chapter quite a bit. And don't forget the MC's thoughts that are explained to us that takes up 3/4 of the chapter so the story doesn't go anywhere and we're just reading the MC's analysis of the "mystery" so far. The author tries so hard to have so many questions in the novel, thinking this would hook the reader in wanting to read more to find out. Unfortunately, it only makes me, the reader really annoyed and want to drop the novel.

I will continue reading and hoping that the author will get himself out of this rut and the story will become interesting again. Fingers crossed. <<less

The story started off well, and I gave it my best shot. However, due to the Author not explaining the world enough it very quickly becomes confusing.

The novel isn't THAT bad but I do not think it deserves to be on any ranked lists.
