Tentative rating, decent enough to continue reading but too early for a definitive rating.

Ignore the reviews spouting junk about gender. (&Amp; Seigin they're monster insects. A 30 feet tall spider monster would be pretty freaky even if you didn't fear insects. Especially if you accidentally get an eye full due to your observation cheat. I find it stranger than more MCs don't get surprised/mildly shocked when they face Cthulhu like abominations/demons since most people tend to squirm just watching a gruesome accident IRL.)

1) Nobody knows how people will... more>> react to actually changing gender. Especially since nobody IRL has been forced to change genders, let alone race. Most likely said reaction will depend significantly on the personality of whoever is being gender bent. Also keep in mind he changed into an ELF, they're known for their low libido/birthrates. If you want to read that kind of stuff, go read some gender bender smut.

2) This is a slice of life story about an adventure weary MC who wants to live a quiet life without rocking the boat. Sort of like the generic "become a blacksmith/shopkeep/hunter/etc" that other reincarnation/fantasy novel MCs end up being after "The Quest" is complete. Here the MC has fallen in love with the simple receptionist life. (Which is pretty much a perfect fit for her.) This is especially evident in vol 1 where she does things to keep the status quo such as maintaining the ecosystem in mind (wants former comrades to not cause damage to the forest), keeping cheat information/knowledge from people (to watch the choices people make on their own but preventing them from rashly wasting their lives.) I'd argue this sort of novel is a more accurate depiction of fantasy/reincarnation novels. More people prefer to be an office worker instead of a firefighter risking their lives every day. Likewise most people would probably settle down instead of continuing to hunt down demon gods if they didn't have to. 3) I'd argue this is a more entertaining read that her exploits because she's so high spec/OP that most, if not all encounters would just end in a crushing victory for the MC. It's more interesting to see how she has to deal with raising a fantasy child (dragon kid), love advances (literally has to tone down her cheat level charm), dealing with others (reformation of assassins), and raising heroes to keep the balance (former comrades). <<less

Love this!!!

The beauty of this fic is that the MC is OP, knows she is OP, and understand the fact that she is OP. Yes I say both [know] and [understand]. Very charming MC, even though she insist on staying on the sidelines (as a mere guild receptionist), you won't get [boring-cause-lack-of-action story] nor [you're OP dammit! Show it!].

For everyone who says "She's a fake female!" "She's OP, so she should go beat up crap", well go read something else.

This isn't meant to be about a OP protagonist going around beating up shit, it's a slice of life about a person who knows they're op, hides that from people around her, and tries to live out life. It's a novel spoken from the receptionist of a Guild rather than another adventure, which is a surprisingly nice change. It's not exactly a story with a load of climax,... more>> but it's perfect for light hearted reading. <<less

Prologue: OK

c1: Instant DISAPPOINTMENT. (With FAKE female protagonist all my future hopes died)

-What is happening? -Chaos.

... more>> I was expecting something simple, packed with positive feelings and different viewpoints than the mainstream novels but this is not like that.

*edit:
c2~~80%:
~10+% of the chapter is writing about how awesome MC is + some random 1 sentences nostalgias you have no idea what to do.
Story is too overcomplicated. I have no idea who knows what and why except MC knows everything.

conclusion:
mehh...
MC is the Japanese dream? HE is "Super Polite" everywhere, every-time, in every situation and emotionless?
Story is complicated and unfunny.

(Damn you fake female protagonist!!!!) <<less

I was honestly disappointed with the story. We have a reincarnated MC who was reincarnated as a girl with super OP powers. So she had apparently kicked ass and killed a lot of people but we don't get to read any of that. No, what we get to read is the MC who had completely given up on adventures and is basically staying behind a desk, playing office. She doesn't reveal to anyone about her OP powers and the people around her seems dense, that despite the MC meeting with... more>> super strong people, they still think she is a fragile person. She has too powerful abilities but she never uses any of them. She only advises people and thus the action is extremely boring, because there is hardly any.

The plot feels s*upid too with random things happening and the author just neglecting about them later. There are too many things happening but none of them are explained. The hierarchy in the world isn't explained either. I was actually looking forward to some Yuri since its a guy reincarnated as a girl. But so far nothing. No romance what so ever. Not even when a girl throws herself at her. So overall this story is a disappointment. <<less

Gender Bender tag only seems to be there to pick up views, but that doesn't matter. She's actually quite a tragic elf, because she gained a cheat upon reincarnation and as she's an elf they live for a long time so as time has passed you could call her one of the strongest beings to the point she actually has stuff that limits a majority of her power. That also means she's experienced a lot of things. Sad things included. So sometimes you feel yourself pitying her.

As for the story... more>> it's slice of life so don't expect it to progress fast with every chapter, but there is an underlying plot and a path in which it's headed towards. It's a slow but enjoyable read. You find yourself caught up with the characters, this tends to happen with slice of life. Even though she works as a guild receptionist, she's also an important person to those around her so she ends up getting caught up with troublesome things, as well as things from her past showing up unexpectedly. If you want to read this just because you want to read about the gender bender then there isn't much point. A long time has passed. If you lived as a female for 10x longer than you were male then you'd become feminine as well.

If I were to compare it with another novel, then 'I’m OP, but I Began an Inn' would be an example. It's very fantasy and the adventure is great. Just check this out. It's long, might get a bit boring for you along the way but, it doesn't mean it's a bad read and definitely should be given a chance. <<less

Definitely one of the best Light Novels listed on this site, and I am not talking just about "Male to female, guy is a girl in another world story" but in general. The translation is beautiful done, the ilustracions are very good and the story is quite interesting.

Is very refreshing to see an overpowered character that uses her brains instead of her power and prefers to take a background role while giving advice.

Yes it has some cooking but unlike other Light Novels is not a recipe book disguised as a... more>> Light Novel. The world building grows with the story and isn't an info dump. And is not like the MC didn't go killing Evil Gods and being a hero, she did, got tired of it and decided to find out what she really wanted to do. I just wish the MC admitted to herself that she is lesbian (or bis**ual) already but we can't have everything. <<less

Cute and fluffy, a verry light read to calm you after some action packed shounen...
Original story with world transfer, world build, taming, yuri...

Bit strangly, even thought it's a gender bender, it's like the past life of our protagonnist never happened...

Look forward for more yuri, 5/5

Honest Summary: A character with enough power to blow up the world does nothing.

If you made a drinking game about taking a shot every time you spot a cliche, you'd be dead in a few chapters.

Also, quit rage reviewing about gender bender when it's in the summary and tags you daft blind ninnys.

Damn this story is boring. There are secret plots going on, dragons appearing to threaten the people, elementals going wild, mysterious people coming and going, cat girls, rather well written foe-to-friend drama, even gods visiting the MC... yet it's so damn boring. The story feels like it goes nowhere. Maybe because the MC quite literally goes nowhere.

The gender-bender stuff gets very little attention and so does the past of the MC where all her (his?) legendary deeds and friendships are. People just appear like the author randomly invented them yesterday... more>> and a seemingly random explanation is given like "Hey, the MC did this some dozen years ago and that's why I totally love her". All issues the MC has are resolved by some random characters who appear randomly, tell how much they adore the MC for... some reason, then the MC sends them to deal with the issue. Cue small side story with completely different characters and repeat. As a reader I kind of feel left out of the stuff, since all those things that happened in the past sound way more interesting than the present does.

Also, I have no idea how the MC can deal with her work. The guild feels understaffed at all times and there are also idiots of various kind constantly bothering her. I have no idea how this counts as the peaceful retirement she seems to be after. <<less

I personally rate a novel out of it’s purpose. If it achieves what it wants to, I will consider that it is successful. (Or else you would rate Ero novels 0 stars right?). This novel purpose is to show a more realistic take on reincarnation stories (I think). You won’t get action. You won’t get yuri. You won’t get exciting adventures. The story was never meant to give you those.

The thing that Ilya did is something I would probably do to if I were to go to another world. ... more>> No person on our world would want to fight for their lives everyday being an adventurer. Instead they would likely choose to do desk work like Ilya. I also feel like the character interactions feel correct. Think for a sec, how often would you need to explain what is the characteristics of an adventurer in a world where the profession is one of the most popular? (Do I need to explain what a farmer or a doctor do?)

Another realistic point is how being a girl for 5 years make you act more like a girl. Because gender roles are usually things that is praised, being a girl that acts masculine and stuff is frown upon. When you face the pressure of society you will need to change in to what the society wants. Humans are a social animal, we can’t live by ourself. No matter how OP you are.

Talk about yuri is also quite likely unreal. I can put out many reasons regardless of gender why you won’t go out with a god-like elf. Such as age difference, Power gap, Feeling of uselessness, Social gap (Do you have enough balls to date a world saving hero?).

Tl;dr- This is a story that is very realistic. And reality is more boring than fiction. This is a realistic take on the isekai genre, it did what it suppose to do perfectly. For achieving it’s goal I give it 5/5. <<less

Writing for this year 2016, the light novel market is saturated with recent Reincarnation Stories to the point most of it share common key points such as;
A) Reincarnated/Summoned MC and others from Japan (Everyone reincarnates from there),
B) Stories starts with MC tasked with destroying current Demon Lord (which either MC accepts or rejects, which he will still do it either way through fate),
C) Depending on the route, the story starts off with an either dramatic tragedy or harem-filled comedy journey on a way to defeat... more>> said Demon Lord with a few twist here and there.
And the list goes on...

However, this story instead opts for the rarely written Post-Life Situation. So lets take a look at a few points which is based on my personal review.

A) Storyline/Plot ~ 3.5 / 5.0
I sincerely love the way the story progress with its Slice-Of-Life Genre and how it describe the world which the MC lives in. While putting aside the RPG-like system that the worlds run, the story progression slowly unfolds as the chapters progresses. Undeniably, they doesn't seem to be any clear plot on what is going to happen other than hints which are revealed in certain chapters which can be exciting, but can be a turn-off since it feels they are a lot of filler stories placed. Overall, it's a more suited and a great read for those seeking a light-hearted fantasy story and would't mind the fillers being placed.

B) Characters ~ 4.5 / 5.0
First and foremost, the MC is an Elf, a Female Elf to be precise which makes it unique and appealing in a certain way. And yes, the MC is OP and almost God-Like strong that you think she would be eliminating foes with ease and gets pulled into politics between kingdoms and such (Typical Hero Problem). Instead, it goes the other way round. Ilya Schultz (Name of MC), takes the backseat by acting more as a Adviser/Mentor to many while using her unique abilities only for certain situation, albeit in a subtle manner. Not only that, the author nudges the fact that having OP MC has it's up and downs in the fantasy world, which is shown through Ilya thoughts at some point of the story.

Lastly, the development of the MC is most interesting as the story progresses. As you read through the chapters, small bits of Ilya backstory is revealed when meeting new characters and such. This lead to the notion of How Was Ilya Past exactly? Since we know little of her other than the fact that she works as the receptionist in a guild.

To sum, Ilya past is one which is full of mystery and speculation that intrigues us to know more about her. The only downside is the other characters so far introduced and developed in the story seems bland by nature (and too fast) which I hope will improve as the story progresses.

C) Writing Style ~ 4.0 / 5.0
Straightfoward and easy to understand. This is one of the reason why the fillers introduced in the story feels vibrant and its almost easy to illustrate it many of the scenes using just our imagination.

To conclude, the series is great for those looking for something different from the mainstream and wants something more light-hearted, with focus on a role which is usually not depicted in may novels and literature and also give a sense of mystery regarding the MC despite being OP.

*P.S. While the tags does say Gender-Bender, it seems the MC has spend so many years as a Female Elf that she (or he?) has probably grown accustomed to it. So depiction of what you expect for a Gender-Bender Series is limited at best, but still interesting to read when it does happen. <<less

One of the few novels where I don't mind an OP MC. Especially since her OPness actually causes her problems now that her adventures are over and she simply wants to live her life peacefully. So far it's a cute and fluffy novel about a person that left the main stage to quietly support others. There seems to be some kind of underlying plot, but it's pretty hard to tell at this point. Gender bender seems to be there simply as an explanation of MC's s*xual preferences, if you expect... more>> something else from this tag, you won't find it. If I would to complain about one thing is that the novel is overbearingly Japanese at times. You know what I mean. Food, culture, etc being shoved right into your face. Thankfully there isn't too much of points like this so far. <<less

This is the story of an OP guild receptionist, this person was a man in his former life so he still prefers women, this is a very big plus for me, yet it seems far from there ever being any yuri. In general the MC feels too impeccable and removed, not in the sense that I would like to see fighting but in an emotional way, which is my only real problem with the novel.

This is a slice of life novel that takes a very different and mature point of... more>> view compared to your usual isekai novels, instead of fighting the battles herself the MC takes a different approach of guiding others and protecting them, both their life but also healing their mind, without really interfering with the world.

People often talk about wanting something original or how every other novel is just full of tropes, this here is a novel that's truly unique, we see the world from the perspective of the guild staff while food which is very important in JP novels is introduced without being in-depth and just as a way to show off the MC's cheat abilities. It is truly a shame that it seems the translators dropped this. <<less

Might not be for the people who wants the main protagonist to show off how powerful they are. This is a story about a Japanese boy reincarnated into a very powerful elven girl that she's basically like a god now if you read her specs and abilities. She decided to hide this fact from people though and live a comfortable and normal life as an adventurer guild's receptionist.

Because of her beauty and knowledge, she is popular with both male and females. We don't know if there'll be any romantic developments... more>> and whether she'll go with women because of her past life as a man, or go with men because of adjusting and accepting her new life.

It's a good read if you're okay with stories with the main protagonist hiding their abilities with a slice-of-life feel to it. <<less

Its a mostly slow-paced story about a super bishojo elf girl trying to live out her retirement as a guild receptionist in a quiet backwater town. Writing is good and there's alot of backstory as well with the story starting well after the main character (said super pretty elf girl) had already finished her epic quests. She's as OP as you can get with the addition that she holds some passive buff that causes everyone around her to practically fall in love with her but she's very against using any... more>> of that and just wants to live quietly and peacefully, not that the world and the plot will ever let her. <<less

Personally, I like game-like elements and gender bender which is why I started with this story.

It is cute, with easy and comfortable progression as well as a twist in the MC's background (not the gender thing, but their personal history). The slice-of-life fantasy atmosphere is average. There is also potential in the plot with the MC's past entanglements coming to 'haunt' her.

What's disappointing is this story follows the typical MtF gender bender Yuri route, the hermaphrodite thus far seems to be comic relief and an unclear plot which leads to... more>> a 'dragging' feeling by the end of Vol 1 instead of wetting your appetite for the next volume.

Perhaps it's too early for me to say, but my interest very much died down before I even finished this chapter. <<less
