I'm trying to figure out why someone just dropped a rating on this already when it's only part one of the very first chapter lol

If it's anything like the manhwa it should be really good. If you want to a decent summary of what to expect then...

Yulian the young glo (Desert prince/1st in line/future king... really just however you prefer to interpret it) who pretty much is a little brat trying to become stronger for various reasons but mostly to help his tribe who is situated in the desert. He a little after the story starts encounters a mysterious middle aged man who he realizes is super OP so he immediately asks to become his disciple after some time the man agrees and so starts our Young Glo's journey. As he gets older he starts to realize the world he lives in isn't so simple, as he has to face beings that can demolish cities, while watching his own back from those close to him. Not to mention destiny has set a course for him, his friends and his family in a prophecy that may determine the fate of his entire world and the most important thing he starts to realize his master is a lot stronger than he could possibly imagine.

Anyway this is as much I could give without really spoiling it. :)

I'll do a real review next time when this updates more. <<less

I read the manga first but after reading this to the latest chapter, I tried imagining myself reading this first before I read the manga. My conclusion is that the Manga is better than the novel in terms of its plot arrangement and delivery. I assume some "filler" chapters where introduced in the manga but it only made the story better and not worse. Although as a fan, I will still be reading this first. A good novel in its own but an even better story in the manga.

It's good from what I have seen so far it's enjoyable, I can't say more but I enjoy it a lot, plus some matters have so far been explained and different from the manhu (yulians age is different), the breathing is explained we see more of the relationship between master and student and also we see the masters thought process as he teaches yulian which is great. Plus from the information the tl'er provided the novel and manga separate after the first chapter (novel) so I don't suggest trying to... more>> start where you left off with the manhwa as you will likely get very lost.

plus the support of fans is necessary as a novel with as much potential as this one without the support of fans will likely get dropped and this is not allowed to happen! <<less

This starts as an awesome 5* story about desert warriors and ends worse than Mass Effect... Dont read beyond book 4, the story literally just stops without conclusion. Neither the main nor the sub-plots get finished in a satisfactory way, most of the hooks the author sets up dont get utilized, its just time wasted you could read something better. Really, really disappointing.

I saw this was complete so I binge-read the whole thing over the last two days.

I rated this only 2/5 because I was disappointed in how it didn't really do anything particularly well.

In terms of characterization, the MC wasn't that interesting and his retinue weren't that great as well. The best character, the Korean martial artist who transmigrated, is missing for most of the novel. 2.5/5

In terms of worldbuilding, ... more>>
Spoiler

The novel teases a lot about fate and the forces of chaos, and then... there's a lack of payoff at the end, without a good resolution.

Also the different tribes in the desert aren't well differentiated culturally, nor the different countries. They feel like names on a page, without characterization. This is easily shown when MC conquers some of the tribes and has no problem integrating them with his own, without friction from different customs. The difference between the tribes and the countries is given lip service, then hardly mentioned again.

1/5.

In terms of plot... it's somewhat coherent until the ending.
Spoiler

I mean, as expected the MC gets personally stronger and builds his tribe into a strong kingdom. It's just... kind of bland during, and then the ending is just such an anticlimax.

2.5/5.

I'm giving it a 2/5 because I'm disappointed with the last third. Before that it was mostly in the 3/5 range. <<less

For those of you that have read the manhwa the novel is not the same story. The first chapter follows a similar path but even that is extremely different. Normally manga/manhwa is missing parts of story that are skipped over sometimes they're extreme and sometimes not very bad just slightly confusing. The novel is much like normal manga/manhwa in that regard. There is more inconsistency in the story that really shouldn't be there so early in the story. The way a lot of story is handled is awful. I understand... more>> story is extremely different but feels like novel was thrown together after the manhwa and difference in story are basically different outlooks of events of the manhwa thrown together to try piece together a story. This might just because I read manhwa first but novel with its inconsistencies in its own story (novel nothing to do with manhwa) feel rushed. Novel is extremely unpolished gem that should be appreciated for giving us a outstanding manhwa. It has as it is first time I've read manhwa that novel can't hold a light to.

tldr: Novel is underwhelming and is like a bone skeleton without any meat. For once manhwa isn't just slightly different and less fleshed out story of the novel. Completely different story and not in a good way. Skips a lot early which was shown in manhwa that makes novel feel underwhelming and rushed so early. Novel feels like how normal manhwa/manga would feel compared to novel only opposite. Stopped reading fairly early so if story gets better this review wouldn't be valid. <<less

A kingdom building story with a lot of war and war.

Focused more on tribe wars.

Basically the theme is Genghis Khan in fantasy world.

MC is slow and not much talent in my POV.

The novel is part of author's bigger story which will reconnect each other but only this novel is translated and may be no others in future.

Ended the novel with no real resolution to uniting the desert, defeating his rival & introduced a new enemy faction without only to just end so suddenly like that.

You can tell author is probably a beginner writer with how there is so many plot holes & loose end left throughout the novel.

Would not read again or the webtoon (which the same author changed major details to that it's very different to the novel).

I binged this pretty hard after starting the webtoon version over a couple of days. I'll start by saying that the novel version, while has more details and side stories, it feels more like a first iteration of the story Cyungchan Noh would go on to co-op with artist Ahm Hyun for the manhwa version. It personally doesn't take anything away from each other while they are the same premise coming-of-age story, the journey is familiar but different.

Cyungchan Noh does a fine job crafting and expanding the world while making... more>> it only skim the surface. There are many stories to be told with other heroes but the story is firmly rooted about Yulian, his dreams, trials, tribulations and the desert he resides.

The reason I give it 3 stars is because I finished reading the webtoon first. Which brings me back to my first point, the novel is the first iteration of the story the author wanted to tell. It is by no means bad, I quite enjoyed the novel version, but the definitive version is the webtoon if one would have the choice of picking only one version to read. <<less
