A VRMMO and rebirth novel that similar to Rebirth of the Thief on WW, but with a female protagonist. My favorite part of the MC's character is that she occasionally just chills out in a quiet town grinding her Life skills. The occasional quiet moment for the MC instead of always jumping from one challenge to another. Loving the novel so far and will continue to follow~

With only 65 chapters out it is kinda early to say this, but this is my favorite MMORPG story. The female character is refreshing with lots of character growth. Usually is second chance stories you get a bitter character that go's against their friends, family, and the world in general not the other way around as we see in this story. The virtual reality part is well done too usually there are so-many restrictions on the character and world that it's easier to imaging the what is happening on a... more>> PC screen but this is more like stepping into an alternate reality. <<less

The main character or should I say author is very bad at naming things. It's both funny and a bit infuriating at the same time. I'm looking forward to reading more. I'm hoping that the MC's guilt doesn't lead her to being too nice or a pushover. Sometimes I wish she was more savage but I'll take what I can get.

I love the novel, but I have to add a trigger warning for a encounter that happens later on, at chapter 306, which is close to a s*xual assault. This kind of experience drove too close home and I almost dropped the novel because of it. So keep that in mind.

Other than that, the novel is pretty entertaining and as usual with VRMMORPG's novels, there are plotlines that don't go anywhere or are straight up forgotten by the author. The translation is pretty good.

This story really cool!

I don't know why some people see this not good. But, if you try to read. This novel was really good! Plot story, character, character background, system game, and character of plot strategy the story. That all refreshing to read. Additionally, this novel was different from usually general cheap Chinese story. The reason is symple. There is logic at the story line!

Typical chinese MC and ML interaction trope. OP ML said that MC is his type and story getting centered on them. Too disappointing for me even if it started rather good. Maybe this is the limit of chinese author imagination on romantic relationship, soo boring and tasteless. Btw the story plot clouded by romantic chattering to unbelievable levela ruin the entire story

The story starts with tragedy. The MCs death, she gets a second chance.

She uses her knowledge and plot armor to acquire game breaking items. Most items in this game have drop rates at 1/10, 000 with bosses that only spawn once a week.

So good gear can only be acquired through plot armor.

... more>> The hunter class can get bosses as pets. There is no competition between hunters and any other class they're completely broken.

The MC recognises she's a selfish bit*h but fails to change her personality. When dealing with bad friends she gives them death threats.

She has changed some of her attitude from lone bit*h to manipulative b*tch. She uses people left right and center but doesn't truly get to know them because they "will" become somebody in the future.

The MC is exactly what you would describe as the heart of a toxic community.

The word friend does not exist in China. Everyone must have a employer/employee relationship or act as douchebags to each other.

MC gets pissed off when she treats them as objects and they don't like that.

The difference between npc and players in this game is that npc act like people. Players are either tr*sh or under the MC influence.

The author makes mention many times that the majority of players are either newbies or noobs with no hope of getting better as the MC herself is just ordinary.

The game mechanics suggest that this game would never leave the alpha stage due to poor design.

I am only a halfway through this novel but I believe the authors intention is that the game called "fate". The MC reincarnation to change her fate, is all for nothing as fate cannot be changed. So what started in tragedy will end in tragedy. <<less

The MC has memories of the future and of all of her gaming experience up to the time her future self died. Despite accomplishing her dream of being a top gamer, she died full of regret and with unbearable loneliness. When she was reborn in the past, she decided to change herself. From her rebirth onward, she struggles to become someone who is more kind and generous. She fights to be someone who can work well with other players and make her own team. She yearns to keep her friends... more>> close instead of throwing them away like she did in her first life. I really like how hard she works to develop herself as a new person and how she steps out of her comfort zone.

Thanks to her memories, she knows a lot about the game she's playing and will take advantage of those. However, she doesn't allow other people to rely on her knowledge too much and hamper her growth. She knows being adaptable and learning to think for oneself are important traits, so she lets her guild members learn things for themselves instead of walking them through everything. Although the math and statistics for drops in this game come across as just plain silly, it's not a problem as long as one ignores the numbers.

There is no romance so far, which is something I really appreciate. Who wants romance to bog down a game? It is great fun to see all of the relationships between characters develop and friendships form as they focus on battles, dungeons, and developing life skills. <<less

I went into this novel with a few question marks - I mean, the synopsis really isn't saying much - but it ended up being a pretty good read, and hopefully I can clear things up for you in this review. It's a bit different from your usual gaming webnovel, so it should appeal to more experienced readers, but it's also newbie-friendly with straight-forward game elements and no technical language (IIRC).

Pros:

  • It's unique for a VRMMORPG novel to have a female lead, and I think the author treated this topic with "respect" in that the MC is neither disadvantaged nor privileged because she's a woman, she can be stronger than others without being absolutely unrealistic (e.g. girl with skinny arms winning arm-wrestle against muscular man kinda scenario), and basically receives impartial treatment regardless of her gender.
  • Starting from a "villain" character is also a fresh concept, which leads us to deeper themes like morality and character development. Hopefully the author follows through in this department, because the story is more focused on long-term developments than short and dynamic arc sequences.
  • This novel is very well-written, and you'll never be confused because the writing isn't fluent or logical enough. Not to mention, the translation quality is excellent, from an unpaid translator (just saying, I'm a big fan of volare novels! :D)
  • There are some nice slice-of life elements mixed together with in-game action, and the side-characters feel very real and interesting to read about.
Cons:

  • The game design is lacking in a few areas, and some of the mechanisms wouldn't make sense in a real game.
    Spoiler

E.g. a 'miss' mechanic that makes higher levelled players practically invincible, yet doesn't apply to mobs so MC can spend half a day tickling a boss to death, clearing dungeons is more like solving a high-stakes riddle than actual PvE action, and there's some hidden "luck" stat that affects the game way too much.

    [collapse]
  • For this reason, the boss fights were pretty anti-climatic, so I wouldn't say this is a novel that gets your adrenaline pumping.
  • I know that the MC's a bit of a loner, but we need to see more of the side characters!! The few times that the author chose to involve other characters were so good, when the MC went back to solo-hunting I was almost screaming "Oh God, WHY??". The most likeable character so far is her cousin, and he's not even a potential love interest... ORZ
  • The way the MC uses knowledge from her past life is a bit underwhelming, it's mainly borderline cheating and blackmail. I think we were looking for some more intelligent use of her knowledge that would really give this story the "wow" factor it needed. I mean,
    Spoiler

just about anyone could exploit a bug that was previously well-known, give away the secrets to clearing bosses, or choose the most efficient quests.

    [collapse]
This isn't a perfect novel, but it's definitely worth a try to see for yourself (so what's this review for? Don't ask). I'm hoping for some long-term developments in the future (which I might add on to this review), but for now I still recommend because there's plenty to keep you interested.

Actually this is quite good. I like the MC, her cousin, and the ML. The ML and the MC is quite or almost godlike ability in the game. But still, so many enemy in the making. And update is very, very slow. So sad...

First of all I would like to appreciate the translator for doing a good job at translating this novel!

I usually didn't like this kind of novel and have been ignoring this novel for ages. Somehow I fell in love with this novel and I didn't even know why. I like the way the author pace her story, not too rush but not too slow. It is hard to remember other characters names and they seems just like a decoration.

The plot? Well I don't actually know what the main plot is... more>> because all the MC has been doing is just going around on an adventure, but somehow I like it!! There's a conflict with her childhood friends and some guild, so this novel is not that bland.

The romance? Well at this point there's no romance for the MC yet, the side characters have some romance tho. Sometimes the author explanation is too unreasonable it's giving me headache. But despite all of those flaws somehow I still like reading it, I think this story has its own charm.

Edit:
It started out very interesting and I actually mtl-ed this and manage to give myself a headache. But sadly when the romance starts budding this story starts flopping until in ended with a disappointing ending. Everything is so rushed and there's a lot of plot hole.

The novel is an immensly pleasing read. It makes makes you laugh every now and then and is more or less well written. Some people complain about absurd luck, but that just proves they read like 20 chapters. The luck is given as most things she does are the first in the game. When she does stuff like exploring dungoens that are already explored, she isn't nearly as lucky.

There are some people angry at the fact that the game she (MC) plays is pay to win (which it is, to... more>> be honest) and in reality nobody would play. But the reason everyone coutinues to play is because how well made the game is. It's not leagues ahead of the tech they have, but it is potraid as a very well and finely crafted game. There are bugs, but they are realistic ones and the devs are responsive. Also the devs don't have weird plans like world domination (LMS) or mass mu*der (sao) so far.

TL;dr : read till chapter 25-30. If you don't like it, drop it. It is a very consistent novel. <<less

Really really good.

Apart from the game elements, which I love, I look forward to her redemption the most.

Ye Ci's past life. Face it: she was pretty much a villain. She's no virg*n Mary after her reincarnation but she is trying her best not to end up like before. Successful but sad and absolutely alone. No family to go back to. No friends to turn to. Just a shiny pretty trophy to hold. This is pretty much why I read this novel. I want her to be happy in the end.

ive seen a lot of people just compare this as a lesser version of rebirth of the thief but I see it as a completely different story. Between the action in game, her story of persevering through a new character, developing new bonds, to her drama in real life that she can't help but follow the same loop with her friends. All of that mixed with the great translation/editing team has made reading this novel a great experience. I look forward to the rest of this story.

The story is very interesting and a break from my reincarnation romance marathon.. Only MMORPG with no romance yet and low chance to have one probably. The flow is not forced, refreshing and kinda makes me curious about the life of other professional gamers. However this type of story would lose its novelty the more longer it becomes. For me who love reading this troupes will have no problem with that.

Possibly the best female MC I'v read about in a long time.

The character interactions are complex, the fight scenes are fun, and the MC's luck isn't always bad.

Romance is confusing, ML hasn't exactly shown up yet.

World building is pretty good. MC has cheats, but she can still die.

It's a pretty funny novel with a typical second chance story. She tries to get along better with her family and friends in her second chance... she tries but that's all. She interacts a little with her family and friends but she still spends most of her time playing the game. She's really childish and I'm not sure how her priorities work anymore. She's obsessed with the game only wants to be the best.

Props to translation team though, they do a great job.

The first game-themed novel that I read plus have female protagonist, so I really love this novel. Because of her bad last life, Ye Ci really trying her best this time. She's kinder and more caring toward people that she treasure. Overall, this is a nice light reading and the translation is really good too.

It is chinese VR novel... but it managed to avoid tropes like OP MC in reality nor shoujo prince left and right. At the same time author managed to write pretty emotional but stable female MC that you can like. Interesting gimmick with MC starting second chance trope with new class character that is fairly rare. Author also avoided tropes like everything going well for MC so it is pretty life like. Personally I think it is fresh air after novels like Zhang Long.

When I first came across this novel, I binge read about 90 chapters or so. Its refreshing -well refreshing for me- take on the whole getting a second chance at life idea, a strong female lead, and the VRMMORPG element sold the novel for me. Instead of revenge, the MC aims to be a better person who values relationships with her family and friends, instead of pushing everyone away and being a loner like in her past life. As someone who enjoys playing video games, the novel's VRMMORPG element is... more>> quite interesting. I would say the MC is OP, but this could be explained due to her past experience in playing the game. In addition, I believe this is one of the rarer VRMMORPG novels that's been translated with a female lead. In terms of the MC's personality, I like her level-headedness and her calm personality.

Furthermore, the translators' (Jimminx and now Rozenbach) smooth translation quality that can be quite hard to come by in the sea of translated novels online, also turned into a another plus for the novel. Honestly, I just wrote this review for the hopes of completing the "Hidden Quest" the translators gave with the reward of one bonus chapter. Lol for someone who thinks writing reviews can be a pain, this just goes to show how much I like the novel... <<less
