I dropped this novel at 179. The description left off the reverse r*pe tag. It's the reverse r*pe scene that I had to drop. This author, as well as many other of the unimaginative sexually repressed Chinese authors on this site, can't imagine how a man who can't even have a single conversation with a person in 179 chapters could possible convince a woman to have s*x with them. The result of this consternation is forced interc**rse. This was the proverbial cherry on top of sh*t flavored ice cream that... more>> led to me dumping this novel. If you are wondering what a sh*t flavored Chinese xianxia ice cream cone tastes like, I'll give you an inkling. It comes from the gaping lucky bu*t hole of might that the MC, Lin Dong has. Lin dong, perhaps the laziest, least ambitious, most unimaginative, and generic protag you have ever met just walks along until the world tells him he needs something. At this point you might think that the protag would come up with a plan and execute it. Nope. He does nothing. He just keeps walking, then he slips, falls down and his lucky bu*t hole just happens to fall onto a mystical fruit, or magical sword, and his lucky bu*t hole just magical absorbs it. Not only is his magical bu*t hole lucky. It is mighty. Whenever he is desperate, Lin Dong can pull anything, and I mean anything, straight out of his bu*t hole. It's miraculous. You wouldn't think that a guy that in an entire web novel is incapable of having a single normal conversation would be the owner of the mystical lucky bu*t hole of might, but he is. Lucky him because it has nothing whatsoever to do with his personality or his abilities. This novel is essentially a r*pey xianxia formula with onomatopoeia sound effects that a five year old might come up with. There are probably only a couple characters that ever receive a description. Instead, if you are a female, you receive a rating on the "I would like to f*ck you scale". No other description required. This novel is a massive waste of time and may induce brain damage upon consumption...

...I got bored and read some more, and I can confirm that my one star rating stands. Also, I admit, I may have incurred some brain damage from my continued reading. Forgetfulness is definitely not forgiveness. I HATE the MC. Here is just a sampling of his characteristics. He is lazy, having only practiced martial arts in the beginning 20 chapters of the book (there are well over a thousand chapters). He is a hypocrite, giving righteous sermons about how one shouldn't steal from him, literally right after he stole from perfect strangers. He is a coward, always waiting for his friends or for strangers to solve a problem before he steps in for fear that he might fail otherwise. He is the opposite of a leader, never once in the entire novel leading people, always waiting and acting reflexively as a response after someone or the author forces him to act. Worst of all, he is perhaps the biggest moron out of all the morons I have ever read about in Chinese novels. If there is a trap he will fall for it. If there is a pothole in the road, he will stumble through it. If there is a clever way to do something and the most difficult most s*upid way to do something, he will always chose the latter, no exceptions. Imagine a fighter that learns 1000 techniques and then chooses to only head bu*t opponents until his brains almost fall out. That would be Lin Dong. Finally, he is arrogant, emotionless, and has not managed to have a single conversation with another human being other than yelling insults throughout his entire life. I know quite a few ret*rded kids smarter than this guy. It suffices to say that I don't like the MC much. I feel like designing an invention just for him. What would that invention entail, you might wonder? It would be a machine with a steel toed boot attached and it would simply kick s*upid arrogant misogynist MC's in the balls at the rate of once or twice per minute until my rage is satisfied. In fact, imagining it I feel just a little bit happier. Wait for it Lin Dong. <<less

You have got a decent plot here but it becomes very predictable late on but it was decent nonetheless. What irked me off and made me abandoned it was the formula of:

Tournament>Tournament >Tournament > Treasure/hidden location>Tournment

The only way the author drives on the plot is by forcing people to go for tournaments which is ridiculous frankly.

This novel and most of Heavenly silk potatoes novels are of the same type. His best work was BTTH and everything seems to be lesser versions of it. They take heavy inspiration from BTTH, everything from the characters mindset to the type of women they like.

The author has a problem of describing every woman, "her jadelike hands", "her silk white hands" Like that gets real annoying. Also it seems that the worth of a woman is how beautiful she is. And if she is single then she can further be... more>> in the plot. If she isnt the prettiest then she wont be relevant later on trust me. Ridiculous the novel is excellent written, MC is far too loyal to anyone who even smiles at him.

Women are holy while men are evil, majority of chinese wuxia have some sort of misogyny that is ridiculous. Since they cant make women weaker than men on average, they put the other female traits of motherly affection into every women. Like not all women are kind and gracious, even if they are arrogant they get redemption arcs. Like seriously I want to write a novel that has female villains that actually treats them for the evil they do not the beauty they can offer. <<less

The story was interesting at first as the MC is working hard to beat his father's enemy.

But what the hell they just made that guy the same as his other enemies wtf and there is also the fact that the author just introduces characters that he didnt flesh out much

Spoiler

An example is that fox girl that went with him towards the Demon Regions wtf they just shut her in a cave and we never heard from her again till near the end when they were gonna invade the yimo base and the worst of all she barely got any screen time wtf...

[collapse]

And this novel also suffered similarly with BTTH as Idk what the author was thinking rushing out the ending like that. It appear as if he wants to just get this novel done with.

Another thing why does almost every CN author think r*pe is a good plot device wtf...

Spoiler

The first girl was r*ped and he used just as motivation to get stronger so he can fk her again. Thats literally it its the same with Medusa (Cai Lin) BTTH why does he likes to use r*pe as a plot device just so he can get more waifus? Couldnt he think of anything else?

[collapse]

Spoiler

Also Im wondering when the fk did he and Huanhuan became lovers. It was just suddenly mentioned by the spirit that she is the Mc's girlfriend but I cant remember when neither of them confessed or some sht...

Well despite what I said this was an enjoyable read I guess a great way to pass the time if you dont have anything to do. Would take you 3 to 5 days to finish depending on how fast you read. <<less

Ima keep it real with you, there is a lot I dont like about this series but overal it was kinda enjoyable from a certain standpoint.

I would have not finished it or even read it if I didnt start with the manga.

This story was written as if there are several authors. There is barely any consistency throughout this story. The main character, his memories, conversations, abilities, items, none of it is consistent.

Like none of it remotely seems like the same person wrote it, more like several people were given an... more>> outline and told to write sections, without knowing what the next person was doing.

this story follows a very predictable format of arena fight - battleground fight - treasure fight, repeat. almost no one dies and the bad guys and good guys always shows up at the last second with the same corny lines

That being said I did like some characters and moments in this but most of it was stretched too long in a very fillerish way.

Highly doubt ill read anything by this guy again <<less

This is not the best CN i've ever read, but I cant say I didn't enjoy it a ton. If the story had any flaw it would be the long bottomless process of the cultivation system. Heres a basic outline of the progression, and thats excluding half-steps, peak stage, quasi, and other description of the not exactly a certain level. If I dislike anything the most it would probably be this.

Tempered Body (1-9) -> Earthly Yin (early, middle, late) -> Heavenly Yang (early, middle, late) -> Dan Stage (initial, Advanced,... more>> Perfect) -> Creation (Formtation, Qi, Manifestation) * -> Nirvana (1-9) -> Life (initial, Advanced, Perfect) -> Death (initial, Advanced, Perfect) -> Samasara (?) -> Reincarnation (1-?)
*Creation Stage is 3 stages in 1, all have an initial an advanced for each for a total of 6

The MC does fight people well above his cultivation throughout the story, thats pretty much his thing. Although I do enjoy sometimes where he just cant accomplish it. For example, the gap between the creation stages and nirvana is massive and impossible to overcome. Even his strongest martial art could only manage to push a nirvana stage back, not even accomplishing to injure him. However he does rely on martial arts commonly to overcome those who are stronger, which turns into a hype fest.

The plot of the story doesn't exist for quite a long time, well rather the major plot of the story. The initial plot is revenge, the person who crippled his father and ruined his life. MC trains to one day be a match for him and ofc kill him. Through the process learns of things which will eventually shape into the real plot. I cant say the beginning is bad, you don't see a real direction is all. Reminds of Coiling Dragon where he just wants to become stronger but has no real set goal later on in the story. Still the first few 100 chapters have to do with his family before he journey's on his own so their is progression just not alot. After the 500 mark you see the story taking alot of shape, by now at like 800s you have a pretty clear idea of where the plot is going. Not predictable but, you at-least aren't in the dark anymore. This novel is a huge investment before you really get to the binge worthy parts, imo.

Heres a few spoilers: I tried to be very soft on the in my review only touching on stuff with no explanations.

Spoiler

The MC does have a few love interest characters in the story, however he does not have a partner as of chapter 843. I'd say there are 2 girls who are likely to fill the roll but, you never know.

[collapse]

Spoiler

The MC does have a few allies that remain and train with him. Although there is a singular MC, his companions stay relevant.

[collapse]

Spoiler

There is a cliche progression, of stronger and stronger like DBZ. If you can bare it, give it a go

[collapse]

I may have come off negative in my review but I do enjoy the story. One has to be honest though, its not that great however is does kill the boredom. After 800+ chapters how could I not be a little biased if I just praised it yknow <<less

For those of you who gave up before 500 chapters, I feel you guys.

You can't really tell what the plot is until then. It's alluded to around chapter 300-400 I think when a ghost tells him the fate of the world will be in his hands. Not really a spoiler, isn't that what all novels are basically like?

So after chapter 500 or so, a plot actually begins to form, and he gets involved with conflicts that are a very high level. There are a lot of mysteries forming too that... more>> leave you wondering about what happened millions of years ago in the world. And to be quite honest, the plot seems much better than the plot in other novels. Take Martial God Asura. I read maybe 1100 chapters and it's all the same; go somewhere, find heavenly resources, become stronger. Where's the plot? Really is none. It's the same with Martial World.

So do yourselves a favor. When this gets update to 900 chapters or more, read it. You'll start seeing that there is a plot, and after Chapter 800, it gets really interesting. <<less

Alright, for those who thinks it's good, that's great. For those who don't, oh well. I can understand. The only way to explain this LN in a terrible way is just a series of "Bang", "Crack", "Buzz", etc. Although the story does admit to the weird style of writing and grammar, I believe the book conveys its story well. (I can't read Chinese, so I don't know the writer's context of writing. Only the translation of the translator)

By reading other books written by the same author, I have... more>> come to know his general concept of writing and style. One of the largest ideal of 'Tian Can Tu Dou's' books is that all of his characters have 'GOOD LUCK'. Like seriously, as in good luck, I mean they farm four-leaf clovers everywhere instead of finding a random one. The fact that his characters gets so lucky makes me say (maybe even you readers), 'what the heck?' I mean, every writer has a concept of writing a story, but this is his way of writing his story. By 'good luck'. And by that, you have to understand that his characters will be lucky everywhere he goes. So for those who thinks it is cool/okay to be lucky, maybe this is a book for you. For those that don't, just drop this book. BUT before you have that idea, let me explain a course of this book in a way to tell you the general idea.

The idea that the writer gives to the readers in all of his books is ideally the same (don't misunderstand me). What makes me read his books, is the story.

The story starts with an individual named Lin Dong. If you read the description it gives you the general idea of the beginning. He is a boy who engages in the meaning of protecting and loving for those he loves. He witnesses his father getting beat-up into a cripple in a single sweep of action. The story practically starts with an undying emotion of revenge, and his first start of 'luck'. Since his family has been banished from the main branch, he does not have resources to strengthen him. He begins to explore the land to become stronger, soon to relinquish his thirst for revenge.

As he goes through a series of hardships, he becomes selfish and quite meaningless in his actions as the story continues, generally around the 200-400 chapters. But of course, it does continue later on. He basically is a character that the enemies will forever hate and be loved by those who has a good relationship with. He builds up an ego which you will dislike at times.

--------------------------------------------Some parts of the book says that the character has no sign of arrogance, but honestly, I feel it's not right that he isn't. This repeats quit often which does get annoying. Also, the words, "trump card", is used so much that it tends to get annoying.... This is not Yu-Gi-Oh. ------------------------------------

Lin Dong is not a witty character but wins fight with the meaning of strength. He will either throw a punch and end it, or he will fight with an atmosphere that will give you readers a tense feeling. While the story progress, the combat continues its accumulation of meaning. As he grows, he obtains many 'hidden' secrets and becomes feared by the many who potentially hurts his identity as a character.

Along the story, brings in "bromance", as well as romance. As in bromance, he sticks with his soon-to-be-known brothers who he will a different kind of character so that the story is not led only in revenge which makes the story more appealing. Now, the most questionable thing for me is the romance. It is more harem rather than romance. Lin Dong gets mad with every single girl he meets and shows no sign of love to them (romance-meaning). He engages in a flirtatious action with odd meaning. The girls he meets do show love, unlike Lin Dong, and to be honest, it doesn't fit his personality. BUT....

Spoiler #1

Spoiler

I think he learns the meaning 'to love a girl'.

[collapse]

if you do want to know about spoiler #1
Spoiler

I took a peak at spoilers that he does fall in love with a girl named 'Ying Huan Huan' who happens to be my favorite female character.

[collapse]

Putting Lin Dong aside.... His family and relatives of his branch of the family (not the main branch), are supportive and engages in a meaning of family. The 'soon-to-be-brothers' gives a relieving and normal idea of true friendship. Besides his brothers,... does he have guy friends? Anyways, the girls that Lin Dong meets will always soon to love/like him and wants to always be with him like every other harem. Of course, he will meet different personalities of girls. Lin Dong's enemies are ALL arrogant (I literally mean it), but what do you know, who's the lucky man.

Although reading what I have typed really didn't explain much, it is difficult to enjoy the book if you do not enjoy the author's style of writing. With many pros and cons I posted, even I wonder why I like it. I guess, I just like his story. The story is built well.... but just with terrible characters. Lin Dong does become a better individual (kinda), and the characters you meet gets better... maybe. <<less

First 200 - 250 chapters are good. Plot exists, interesting OP Tool to aid cultivation, and even decent fight scenes.

As soon as MC leaves for his training journey, it's like the author gave up on even writing a story.

The repeat is horrendous. I don't just mean the sequence of events.... but the same descriptive phrases, and the same conversations are repeated over and over again.
- Bad Guy X with Body of a Bear and shoulders of a Tiger
- Battle completed... Go Little Flame!
and on and on. Every... more>> 10 or so chapters are practically Cntrl C, Cntrl V and edit the upgraded power names.

Ok, I kind of expect this from a Xiania and I still read them. But normally there is actual breaks in between the repeat. Things to break up the monotony.

Sadly, this story takes one more step in the wrong direction instead. This is what kills it for me... RANT TIME!

MC fly's past tons of resources and treasures to get to the better stuff... Has he lost all personality that he doesn't even think of or care for his little sister anymore? Doesn't he complain about being poor every 10-20 chapters...

How many dead bodies happen around him without him looting bags, How can he gain new martial arts skills, and there is no mention of his OP item helping him to learn the skills... Its like the item has been completely forgotten about... (This story and other like it suffer when OP item should have all the martial arts in it the character could ever want and needs, but author needs Get Object X to power up to keep story going)

MC steals Item from Ancient Ape, It gets it back, then a few chapters later, its magically in MC's hands again.... Oops <<less

Wu Dong Qian Kun, a story that managed to be both interesting and boring, that moved at a snail like pace at times and then rushed to the top faster than a gypsy would run away with your wallet. Even though the protagonist become more and more an annoying guy, I can proudly say that his stubborn character was well motivated. His mistakes in both relationships and cultivation are surprisingly acceptable once you put yourself in his shoes. Because of this, even though the curses of this story remained for... more>> almost 1000 chapters, I managed to finish it... by skipping a few chapters from time to time.

The biggest two flaws are the tournaments and the women. There is always some sort of contest everywhere between the young generation and he always manages to snatch the grand prize. Once, or twice, or even thrice is acceptable. But once you see this happening more than 10 times then you get annoyed as hell. In the end I managed to ignore it and move along. But the other flaw stuck with me for way longer. Even now I feel annoyed. Way to f*cking many women managed to get close to him only to find out later on that they were some super talents, super experts, never seen before beauties and so on.

In conclusion.. for fck sake, it's hard for me to say this, but it was enjoyable, really enjoyable, way more than that sh*t called Warlock of the Magus World. I really recommend you to read it. Slowly, not in hurried manner. This is not a masterpiece, but it is very entertaining. Even more when you consider that there are two sequels. Have a nice read! <<less

I’m dropping this.

The story started off good (even with it’s recycled plot) but over time starts to show more of those unbearable xianxia traits that miraculously keep’s the MC alive even thought he’s making dumbass decisions. (Spoiler alert) In one of the more recent chapters the mc’s searching for a beast for a refinement technique to toughen up his body, but some powerful group has monopolized the area he needs to search in, so MC figures that it’s worth risking his life offending these guys ’cause he’s got plot armor... more>> (the author gave a reason but this is the real one). He proceeds to sneak his way in, spends his time avoiding them for like half a day, until he spots a treasure. He decides to retrieve it even though he’s in a shitty situation (’cause of plot armor). He continues with this s*upid side objective. But stops because he finds a beast protecting it, in his wise beyond reason mind he decides that this is a perfect chance to help his pet grow. The fight goes as expected (at least from the working minds perspective). The fight between two gigantic creatures draws the enemies attention what with all the big explosions, but the main character is unconcerned even though he spent all that time sneaking around, it seems because he got a gain that was not his original objective. This occurrence made me wonder about all the stealth in the beginning of this mission, if he wasn’t concerned about their presence why did he act the way he did?

This novel is not worth the read, because usually people stick with a sinking ship because of how great it was in the past but this novel has never been great and its going down fast.2/5 <<less

Your typical tr*sh MC that becomes OP due to massive amount of luck/item, nothing new if you have read 1/3rd of the top 20 in rankings list. Other sects, family members and distant relatives calling him tr*sh, bullying him, MC vows to get revenge by training hard (not really just lots of luck), we have the select few that believe he's worth protecting because they think he's strong. Oh, don't forget the tsundere harem filled ladies, whom each is so beutiful that they require paragraphs and sometimes even chapters to... more>> describe how wonder their silky smooth skin and huge their breasts are.

Maybe I'm just tired because I've already read another one of this author's works, but I'm very disappointed in this, I love generic cultivation novels, but this mediocre work is lacking in a few big areas that I find important in a story and is riddled with so many flaws I find I can't continue reading.

It's perhaps worth the read if you can't find anything else... but don't expect anything original or satisfying in this. The face slaps and revenge (which are a huge part of these types... more>> of stories) are more often than not terribly lacking/disappointing.

Plot armor is waaay over 9000 in this. More like the plot armor for a super saiyan God.

The entire world moves around the MC, nearly every encounter is highly convenient and predictable.

The author is very sexist and you can see the contradictions and conflict in his works when he tries to write in a powerful female but without fail finds various ways to devalue and discriminate against them.

The romance is terrible in this. Regarding this the author chooses a harem story but ignores three prime candidates for being amazing harem members, the main girl he chooses is barely likeable and the relationship between her and the MC isn't realistic/ believable at all with the little "development" author puts into it.

Spoiler

The three ladies he decided to toss in tr*sh bin each had much more going for them and I really wanted to see development between them and the MC.

Even without the other reasons I wouldn't complete reading this work due to the extremely disappointing romance. (I dont require it, but if you're going to put it in atleast do it right. He does a good job introducing some really exciting potential love interests but almost immediately tosses them aside. One of them he explains as tossed aside because she wasn't politically powerful enough, this is while MC is still basically a nobody.)

[collapse]
The author is very inconsistent with the personality and motivation for the MC. It is ok for the first 200 chapters but after it gets really bad.

Spoiler

allegedly according to author MC has become more heartless with training in the wild but immediately after you start to see repeated hair pulling moments of MC being soft and sparing enemies who have tried to kill him and who swear they still will kill him. Prior to the authot identifying him as having "hardened" he was much more ruthless!

[collapse]

These weak hypocritical and highly inconsistent behaviors, continue throughout the rest of the story until where I stopped reading. With very few actual deaths.

Furthermore, similar to some other works from the author, he complains about being poor a lot but doesn't loot his defeated enemies 99% of the time. (Even with foes author has already identified as being filthy rich)

Utterly disappointing story, as with BTTH the author is still great at starting a story but sure stinks at keeping it going.

Also translation gets very crappy 200 chapters in. <<less

I'm being generous, because I read so much- it had a lot of plain training chapters and I like simple things.

I dropped it when: the main antagonist and the MC's clan main branch get overpowered by shameless deus ex machina just so they can be a little stronger than the MC in the final confrontation. They are made into a c*ckroach so the author can milk this conflict for more chapters, because he lacks the brains to come up with new plot directions.

Story is dumb, 1 stars. Typical xuanhuan storyline. Translation and editing is crappy, removed two stars. It's too bad negative number is not allowed for rating. Lots of typos, grammatical errors, literal translation from Chinese passages that sound very awkward in English. It is sloppy editing.. As if the translator didn't care enough to edit/proof-read. From reading the raws and the translated, I can see the translators/editors adding their own words and changing the story.

This translation suffered from the same problems in most Chinese translation I've read with... more>> the word "kept". It's misused for the word "store". E.g. "He kept the treasure in his pouch." when the translation should be "He stored it in his pouch.", or "He put it in his pouch.". Close to 99% of the translation I see used this word wrong.

Another problem is the wrong translation of number count. I suspect it's yet another literal translation that is wrong. I see so many Chinese-English translator doing this wrong. It is the use of *number over*, e.g. "10 over" instead of "over 10". The two phrases have completely different meaning. The phrase "10 over" mean that it is 10 over the existing number, e.g. If there are 100 pills, then "10 over" mean 110 pills. The use of "10 over" is wrong when the sentence is meant to say "over 10", e.g. More than 10.

I am disappointed that the translation from wuxiaworld is not the quality I expected. The quality of translation seem to get worse with each chapter. I totally understand that English may not be the translator first language (it's not mine either, I started learning English when I was a teenager). However, the translators should find help from someone who does know English to edit the translation.

As for the story itself, the MC (LD) is passive and s*upid. LD is very passive, he usually wait for enemies to do something before he re-acts, or he wait for Yan or little Marten or someone else to tell him what to do. E.g. LD re-acts instead of being active and do something first. Lots of plot armor stuffs, idiotic thinking. Bah, humbug!

Wu Dong Qian Ku's manhua adaptation is one of the things that lead me to the world of Chinese novels, so this tale has a special meaning for me.

Had WDQK been the first Chinese fantasy novel I completely read, I would have given it full marks, but it is no longer a possibility.

First, the story itself is alright, with its fair share of ups and downs, fights, training periods and cliffhangers. The overall plot is quite classic, a tale of vengeance which after the death of the target becomes a... more>> quest for both romance and the protection of the protagonist's world. The vengeance part is good, although a bit long winded, the romance is classic yet made above average thank to the author represents the interactions between the main character and his two love interests and the "save the world" part is well made, with clues of this first underlying plot shown even in the first third of the novel, but a little "unsurprising" if you're already used to the genre. Also, at about three quarters of the novel, the story starts to get a little slow, and I think the author saw it, for at four fifth of the story, there is an acceleration of the rythm, which at the moment is welcome, but makes me fell like there are some parts that couldn't be developped as the author wished it.

The characters are a bit of a mixed bag. The Lin Dong is a good protagonist, both in his morality and writing, a real hero of the genre (strong willed, hard working, ready to protect and get revenge for his loved ones) which makes him easy to cheer for, but he somewhat lacks quirks that could help me relate to him. His two love interests (you can't quite call this a harem novel, more a polyamorous one) are also well written, each with her style, merits and flaws, each positive in her own way, and always feel, even when they're not present, as important parts of the story, not mere flower pots. For the other members of the main cast, the "brothers" of the protagonist are also well written, a bit better even than the MC, for they have quirk and flaws that make them very sympathetic. For the rest of the cast, those who are neutral or on Lin Dong's side tend to be okay, in the sense that they accomplish their roles in the story, but they are written in a bit of a shallow way. My big problem with the cast lies in the antagonists, who, for nearly all of them, come from the mold of the arrogant, overconfident douche who go after the MC for he bruished their ego (during the first two third of the novel) or because he interferes in the plans of the main antagonist faction (last third of the novel). In the latter case, all of the bad guys here have no noticeable differences, even in their battle techniques, beside their number (I'm not kidding). The only two lasting antagonist who escape this fate are the target of the initial vengeance (he has charisma, persistence and self-righteousness) and the last main villain who is written in quite an imposing way, has an underlying, somewhat unexpected goal beside pure destruction and domination, but is ultimately here for less than 10 chapters (he has lots of flash but pitiful substance).

The power system is quite classic for this kind of novel, with a dual power track, one qi oriented and the other psychic oriented. Still, there is a problem here as while the qi power is well detailed, with every level given good and repeted explanations, the psychic system explanation is less detailed and somewhat confusing when it comes to the power levels, which is quite a malus, especially in the latter part of the novel. On the plus side, after the first third of the novels there is no inflation of new techniques and martial arts for the protagonist. Lin Dong rarely gets new arts, and most of his progress relies on mastering deeper and more profound secret of the techniques and items he already has.

The world itself is... okay. The author gives us enough background to make the characters and the plot work, and the environmental details are sufficient to put us in the proper mood for a given scene, but in the end, the world can fell a bit "dry".

The translation is a very strong point of the novel. The Yellowlaw team made a simply wonderful, professional level job here. There are no typos, mispelling or grammar error, the energy and mood are well transmitted, their work can only be called impeccable. The only sad part is that this novel will be the last cooperation of the team, but one can hope.

So, in conclusion, Heavenly Silkworm Potato gives us with Wu Dong Qian Ku a very good classic novel, with a well written but unsurprising plot, a pretty dry world building, an energetic, charismatic and positive main cast (especialy the MC, his love interest and brothers) but only above average secondary cast and mostly poor antagonists, a consistent but slightly confusing power system and a easy to read style which carries us through a wonderful adventure, all handled by professionnal level translators. It is by no means an excellent novel, but you'll have pretty good time reading it.

P.S: Thanks to Yeow, Law and Aaron for their top level work. <<less

Wu Dong Qian Kun is just a typical chinese novel where a kid with no background (normally), suddenly got a boost either by a help of someone or some divine object the kid came across. It's just a typical chinese novel that it's actually enjoyable to some extent it has some upside and downside. The downside is of course the fight will be repeatable and not really original like most chinese novel fight, but it have some upside also the most exciting arc for me was the hundred empire wars... more>> because
Spoiler

that's where lin dong actually kill lin lang tian and the journey from beginning to that point was exciting

[collapse]
.

After the ending of hundred empire wars it's not that amazing but it's still enjoyable because we already wasted so much time reading the growth of lin dong that's it's such a waste to not actually read it to the end. <<less

Look, every previous review may be true in many ways. But in my opinion this novel can only be described as fun. This was one of the first novels I read and I always had fun reading it. I had fun watching him past thru the various problems he had. And in all honesty I like it very much. Lin Dong is a good character to cheer for, and every villain that appears you always feel wronged for the character (even though I have to admit he is an as*hole... more>> sometimes) <<less

Boring. I like it at the beginning but later on it just got boring. I tried to keep reading thinking "oh, it'll get interesting in a few chapters!!" But nope! Just kept getting boring. I couldn't take it anymore and just dropped it
