What makes this series different from many of the other Wuxia/Xianxia novels is that the MC is genuinely nice and naive. This makes you want him to fail, because in reality that is what would happen. I felt like I was reading a Japanese story with a generic spineless, naive, and too nice to be true MC. With the typical Chinese MC's that are arrogant while being both mentally and physically strong I feel like that's how most people would react to situations unlike in this story. Living in a... more>> tough world makes you tough and if you can't be tough you will just die. Even the side characters are slice of life and the ensemble provides a lot of cringe. <<less

This is not Mango approved. Pretty below ordinary. Already very lenient by giving it 3 stars. Yup... sigh. 51 might seem too soon to decide, but keep in mind that this is only 700 chapters long.. that makes it less than 10%. Dayem..I just couldn't go on any further.

So yeah, a very VERY shounen anime type novel. Unfortunately, the colors and flashiness of an anime weren't being conveyed properly. The story in itself is terrible. Yes, that is a strong word.

The MC is a naive guy... and I mean the... more>> annoyingly naive shounen type MC. And his VERY VERY PLOT HEAVY SPECIAL POWERS AND CHEATS AND LUCK...too much.

There is the mandatory group of good friends slash rivals but... they just cannot be termed as good supporting characters, considering that the MC himself is so lacklustre.

And of course... if people take 2 years for something, MC takes less than 3 months. Ok. Plot. But his friends are just as fast and good? Why don't you just make this into an anime or something?

Considering that there were a lot of times where I could just tell the name of some anime which used that thing...I mean, rock smash is a move in here. Pokemon anyone? There is the dropping of weights by Lee from Naruto as well...I will stop here.

This is just disappointing, because I went in expecting a JP style CN that was fresh. Instead, I got a Google translate of a stale JP. This is not Mango approved, again.

And PoTS is at least 10 times better, if someone is looking for a better version of a similar series.

I completely forgot about the comedy... which gets VERY repetitive and stale as the series progresses. And... this wasn't a comedy! I could have just gone back to gintama or konosuba!

EDIT: Oh, also.. did I mention the plot which makes it hard for me to think about nakama power up causing the MC to never lose? Even when the baddies are... evil dragon followers and stuff? <<less

What makes this series different from many of the other Wuxia/Xianxia novels is that the MC is genuinely nice and naive. This makes you want him to succeed more than with all the other cold blooded arrogant a**holes out there. Even the side characters are pretty interesting and the ensemble provides a lot of humor.

Is it just me or did someone else have this hilarious image in their head when you saw the title. I couldn't help but to see a guy with a super serious face blowing out a candle and then crunching an ice-cube with his teeth.

*cough**cough*

Anyhow, the story is actually quite alright. The MC is (so far) likeable and the usual xianxia template hasn't been used.

The language checks out and we have some humor.

Therefore I'll give 4/5 stars

very, very shounen. the MC is a naive optimistic chaotic-good human (?) wrecking ball who defeats most of his enemies with the power of friendship and a few OP power moves. And like many shounen MCs he's a cheerful glutton rice-bucket who eats vast quantities of food.

if you're looking for dark and vengeful, if you're looking for face-slapping, harem, r*pe, and massacres of entire clans/ sects than you will most likely hate this novel (so far there's none).

this is a decent story taken in context (shounen) and enjoyable enough in... more>> an academy type story setting. not sure how the story will progress when and if he ever graduates, but so far the story is fairly innocent; the kind of thing my thirteen year old brother would love to death... if only I could get him to read. <<less

It's in a way a quirky comedy adventure fantasy story. The first few tens of chapters, defending on the level of your sense of your humor will make you laughed a lot till your stomach hurts.... The MC so far is one of my favorite characters like Tang Tian of Undefeated God of War and Bai Xiaochun in A Will Eternal. I see they are in a way alike thinking of their actions in their own stories makes me want to laughed out loud even when I am at work.... more>> This is definitely a good read as it is fun and very entertaining. <<less

It's basically a Chinese novel that tries to emulate typical Japanese shounen series and it's all cool but I have to say the execution was kinda problematic. I'll list out what I like and don't like about this novel

The good:

  1. A unique MC that is different from your typical MC in Chinese novel (which is a given since the author tries to emulate something else)
  2. Supporting characters actually undergo character development which make them not one-dimensional
The bad:

  1. The time frame of the novel. The entire story takes place within a year (so you can imagine how MC and supporting cast are speed-running the entire thing)
  2. Chaotic cultivation level and techniques. The novel has 8 cultivation levels (7 gates + pre-gate) so you can infer that the gap between each gate should have been really huge but this does not seem to be the case in various situations in the story. Techniques/spells' strength were vague as well
  3. Chaotic portrayal of characters' strength. Basically, you won't really know much about the progress of the side characters but somehow you'll find them seemingly progress super fast. For example, character A has 1 gate opened but the next time it was described, character A opened 3 gates. Also, some characters seemed to be able to repel opponents that should be way above their league. Another example would be how a certain team should be one of the top arcane team in the kingdom but if you notice, their level of cultivation is easily matched by an ordinary guard of a neighboring kingdom.
  4. The ending. It was just unsatisfactory imo

MC is such generic japanese shounen protagonist. An exact replica of luffy from one piece which, but more cringey. All these friendship this, friendship that. I might just be hating shounen in general, but this one kinda grinds my gears. I cant really give a bad rating due to my preference of liking seinen, so 3.5 rating in terms of typical shounen genre. However, it is bumped to 4 since im just a hater.

Loving this novel so far! I love the author's sense of humor and I am amazed at the plot of this novel for it's something everyone would love. The adventure and comedy in this novel is top-teir and every character that is introduced has his/her own personality. The MC has a great chemistry with old geezers, something which is similar to the MC from Sovereign of the Three Realms. Overall, this is a refreshing novel to read.

I very much enjoyed the lightheartedness and comedy in the beginning, but my problem now is that the MC seems very flat. I guess I should have expected it from the shounen-style review the TL gave it, but this is really going as one would expect it. MC goes to school>MC joins tournament>MC joins the fight against evil.

The only thing unexpected for me thus far is who the romantic choice ended up being. I did not see that coming.

An overall okay story just don't expect to see any twists and... more>> turns. <<less

You can tell that the writer has a sense of humour, but we'll see if he'll overplay the comedy aspect. So far so good.

Awesome Read!!!

Ok so I admit it, I love this series! Ayrin is unique character and I simply love the comraderie in this series. It strongly reminds me of Fairy Tail while Ayrin himself reminds me of the Zhou Weiqing from Heavenly Jewel Change only without the Harem. While the beginning is slow, the pace picks up, the sheer comraderie, and the growth of the characters all suck you into this story.

I was expecting a comedy, but I did not notice it. It is a light-hearted story, with more slice-of-life, school delinquent elements than a magic academy. Also, I am not sure who is the MC, Belo, the Crazy Girl or the guy that seems like a Luffy, Tang Tian rip-off, but a lot less funny. It is not a terrible web-novel and I could see why some may enjoy it, but I could not keep on reading.

This MC feels different from other MCs in that he's... actually supposed to act kinda dumb (as in he's not that intelligent, but not an idiot). It's adorable, really. His bloodline is quite mysterious and amusing. Weird way to start his journey haha. The MC's abilities are interesting!

MC really reminds me of Undefeated God of War's, except maybe less ruthless. He's a lot more cute and friendly. Quite likable.

The side characters are interesting! Some of them fit other types of MCs. They're quite quirky too... and have the potential to... more>> become super OP along with the MC.

No romance yet. It's probably going to be late, unless the MC randomly instantly falls in love. Only upperclassman idolization has been seen. EDIT: There's kisses now, but nothing absolute yet.

Overall, it feels quite "Shounen" and is more of a light read. The comedy is strong and some things don't need to be read deeply. There's a hint of serious plot coming though. Reminds me kinda of Douluo Dalu.

Spoiler

MC's first goal seems to be for his idol to win a tournament. That's special.

Some novels start with an interesting background story / plot. And it goes on for a while until eventually the author runs out of ideas, and has their character join some kind of school, and participate in a school tournament. Aka the dreaded filler arc.

This is not that kind of novel. This one more or less starts with the school tournament. And for 150 or so chapters, that's all there is.

And if you persevered through all of that, you get rewarded with... a plot that does not make sense, a... more>> MC that uses abilities that do not make sense (cast random spell, MC himself literally does not know what will happen), and it makes it a very dull read compared to other novels since fights are just random instead of exciting.

Basically this is a filler novel that still seems like filler even after the end of the filler arc. <<less

At 211 I feel like some reviews are kinda misleading.

In my opinion, the MC is not so completely naive. What he is naive at is some common sense stuff and it makes sense since he had no one his age and only lived with other villagers.H e actually understands how some things work though and becomes smarter at fighting during the tournaments.

He also doesn't have full-on plot armour because he trains really hard to become stronger.

Also, the MC is not a bloodthirsty killer and his mind is like this. If... more>> you try and kill me, I will kill you. The only place this doesn't apply is when the MC rn is in the tournament where he doesn't feel like he has to kill and can make friends. <<less

I recommend his novel. It might not be to everyone's taste but it is a real novel. There is none of the chinese's LN's cliche.

I read about people calling the MC's naive but it's not true. He used to live in an abandoned town with zero contact to outside so when he leaves and discover the world he doesn't know much. Imagine someone traveling through time from the 40's, they wouldn't know anything about the modern world so they would appear naive even if they aren't.

He also lived in a... more>> place without hope but he still persevered. So when he joins an academy his life is radiant for him and that's why he is full of life and optimist. He knows what despair is and it didn't beat him so school drama doesn't affect him.

I really like the fact that every disagreement isn't met with a life and death battle. The story happens in an academy at the beginning so there is competition but you won't get kill just for looking a senior in the eyes like in other novels.

The plot is also good. The MC isn't thrown into something huge right away for no reason. The beginning is very slice of life but the novel very naturally brings in the big plot. It starts small but it gets bigger as the MC becomes more powerful. I'm not saying the ennemy's power follows the MC's but that nobody will ask him to fight someone much more powerful than him when there are others who can. He will join the more dangerous mission when he has the power to do so or if he stumble into the action for some reason.

All in all it's a good novel without major flaws. You might like it or not but it will not be because the MC is facing the 367th crisis of his life because he refused to cede his table to a young master. <<less

One of the best novels Ive read. You can compare it to Five Way Heaven and A Will Eternal. It has a unique MC, he is innocent and very talented. The side characters also have different personality to the point that they deserve their own novels to star in. World building is also consistent and the pacing of the story is just right. If you like academy and tournament genre then this is also for you. What I like most about this novel is how MC become friends with those... more>> he fought before, it show that even those bullies and opponents can grow. Awesome character development. <<less

Starts of interesting, but gets repetitive really quickly. Basically the same thing happens in every match more or less and the MC goes around collecting friends like Pokemon. I would say its ok for a light read, it had potential bit the writer was too lazy to come up with original arcs.
